Description


The Manager, Technical Training is responsible for the delivery of training for their client group and managing the instructors to deliver to the plan.

They also are responsible for ensuring the design and implementation of training programs for their area of expertise is consistent.

Manager responsibility includes developing and implementing yearly training plans, managing workforce to deliver to the plan and meeting regulatory and customer service requirements.


Accountabilities

  • Accountable for the planning and delivery of training for their client group in support of the business strategies and performance improvement targets for Operations.
  • Accountable for identifying yearly training requirements and providing an organization to deliver the training cost effectively that meets business strategies.
  • Manages the planning processes for the delivery of initial training, certification training, recurrent training skill upgrade of new hires and existing employees.
  • Accountable for the teams budget. Prepares and manages all related expenses associated with training (materials, travel, wages, etc.).
  • Accountable for the developing training plans with strategic partners and training providers.
  • Accountable to manage the entry of training records into training system for training provided to their client groups.
  • Accountable to ensure consistency in training design for their function.
  • Accountable to develop appropriate resource plan to meet clients training and implementation requirements.
  • Accountable for improving training processes in their area of responsibility.
  • Ensure risks related to legal and Federal rules are mitigated by evolving training and enforcing training standards.

Required

  • University degree or diploma preferred in Adult Education
  • 5 or more years' of experience in the function being supported
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Strong administrative skills
  • Knowledge of adult education and the adult learning cycle
  • Knowledge of instructional design principles
  • Knowledge of Collect Agreements
  • Ability to create engaging educational opportunities that increase the performance of technical employees at CP
  • Ability to implement elearning programs
  • Ability to plan and resource training plans and budgets effectively within budget
  • Ability to work crossfunctionally
  • Skilled in negotiation
