Working collaboratively with other specialist disciplines within CGG, the individual will play an integral part in delivering a technically excellent result to our client.

The key product deliverable will include a full regional to block-scale interpretation and evaluation of both legacy 2D & 3D seismic data and new 3D seismic data leading to a risked and ranked portfolio of new prospects.

The scope of work includes but is not limited to tasks such as synthetic generation, seismic-well ties, 2D and 3D seismic interpretation in a highly complex salt tectonic regime, seismic attribute extraction, stratal slicing, geobody definition & visualization, velocity modelling, depth conversion, subsurface mapping, identification of new hydrocarbon plays, detailed prospect definition, probabilistic volumetric calculations, and prospect risking.

Applicants must have a solid understanding of integrating geophysical observations and results with other disciplines such as Multiphysics (gravity/magnetics), seismic processing, sequence stratigraphy, reservoir characterization, depositional facies mapping, basin modelling/petroleum systems analysis and petroleum geology.

The role is based in Villahermosa, Mexico with potential to visit CGG's offices in the UK and US.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Responsible for undertaking, managing, and delivering technically excellent subsurface work in line with CGG corporate standards and industry best practice
  • Work collaboratively and support other disciplines to guarantee that data and interpretations are delivered so that each task is completed in a timely manner.
  • Work closely with the Seismic Imaging group throughout data processing to ensure that geological objectives are met.
  • Coach / mentor peers, and junior staff regarding the effective use of geophysical tools and bestpractice workflows to seismic interpretation and prospect mapping.
