COMPANY PRESENTATION

For 60 years, AGIAMONDO (until 2019 AGEH) has been a reliable partner for development workers and a key source of specialist personnel for many church and other civil society organisations active in the field of international development cooperation work.

As a state-recognised personnel service provider, we supply qualified Christian-oriented experts from all EU countries for projects in Africa, Asia, Latin America or Central or Eastern Europe.

Since being founded by Catholic associations and organisations in 1959, AGIAMONDO has supplied over 6,000 experts for development projects.

  • The Civil Peace Service (CPS) offers development workers a meaningful role working with local development agents. The CPS is a personnel programme for peacebuilding and the prevention of violence in crisis and conflict regions. It sets out to promote a world in which conflicts are settled without violence. Working with churchrelated and civilsocial partner organisations in Mexico, AGIAMONDO aims to make a contribution towards civil conflict management and the sustainable and equitable development of the country through peacebuilding measures.
To build up an archive for our partner organization, the Fray Bartolomé de Las Casas Human Rights Center, we are seeking to fill the following position:

Archivist for Remembrance Work (M/F/d), Chiapas, Mexico

Your new role

  • The Fray Bartolomé de las Casas Human Rights Center (FRAYBA) was founded on March 19, 1989 on the initiative of Don Samuel Ruiz García, then Catholic Bishop of the Diocese. You will monitor and document human rights violations in the state of Chiapas, especially in indigenous territories, and promote the right of indigenous peoples to selfdetermination and autonomy on their lands and territories.
  • As part of its remembrance work, FRAYBA aims to build its own archive to systematise and organise documents and reports from the period of armed internal conflict. This archive will subsequently become part of a remembrance centre, which will be made available to interested communities and individuals. The centre is intended to contribute to local remembrance as well as the political education of young people.

Specifically, you will carry out the following tasks:

  • Designing and setting up an archive on the armed conflict in Chiapas.
  • Reviewing, systematising, protecting and safeguarding existing documents.
  • Organising and helping with digitalisation of materials and visual documentation of eyewitness accounts.
  • Designing exhibitions and helping create the content for a multimedia platform as part of the remembrance work.
  • Properly disbursing and managing funds locally in accordance with donor guidelines and AGIAMONDO requirements. In doing so, you will work in partnership with FRAYBA.

Your profile

  • You have a university degree, e.g. in sociology, history, ethnology, or you are trained as an archivist or documentalist.
  • You have practical experience setting up an archive and handling documents as well as video and audio files.
  • You have practical knowledge of remembrance work. Experience in public relations with educational processes is advantageous.
  • You can communicate fluently in Spanish, verbally and in writing. You hold a valid driver's licence and drive on a regular basis.
  • You are an EU or Swiss citizen and identify with the goals and concerns of church development and peace work.

What AGIAMONDO offers

  • Individual and thorough preparation
  • Threeyear contract, social security and remuneration in accordance with the German Development Aid Workers Act (Entwicklungshelfergesetz)
  • Cultural, language or other professional training, as well as coaching, supervision and individual consulting
