    Sr. Accountant Specialist – R2R

    Location: Mexico City (Hybrid)

    The person in this position will support the FRA Operations Team , providing high-quality services, performing daily accounting activities. The role applies principles of accounting to analyze financial information and prepare financial reports. Responsible for accounting requirements for assigned areas to be completed timely and accurately.

    How You Will Make a Difference

  • Interact proactively with functional areas to ensure accurate accounting and financial reporting is accomplished within prescribed deadlines and in accordance with IFRS / Alcon Accounting Manual
  • Prepare accurate and robust monthly balance sheet account analyses and reconciliations, including analyses for balance sheet reviews.
  • Prepare accurate journal entries in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate proactively with key stakeholders, including Finance colleagues and Regional Financial Reporting and Accounting. Communication with these stakeholders is appropriate and timely when questions regarding accounting/reporting matters arise.
  • Ensure all processes comply with Alcon standards and policies (i.e. global processes, Alcon Accounting Manual, Alcon Financial Controls Manual, Management Authorization Levels, etc.).
  • Understand impacts to the general ledger for assigned areas due to other intra- and inter-departmental transactions and activity from other functional departments.

  • Skills For Success

  • An undergraduate degree in accounting and/or Finance required. Master's or Advanced degree in accounting and/or Finance preferred.
  • CPA/Chartered Accountant preferred.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of IFRS (GAAP), accounting and financial reporting requirements. Strong analytical skills.
  • The ability to fluently read, write, understand and communicate in English.
  • 5+ years of accounting experience – public and industry preferred
  • Ability to apply accounting practices. Good analytical skills.
  • ERP knowledge (SAP, JDE)
  • Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Experience working with shared services preferred.
  • Experience working on process improvement projects and financial process engineering.
