Governance Manager DBS

Purpose of the position
The Entity Chief Control Office team (CCO) for HBMX direct accountability for DBS, WPB and Risk & Compliance. The Chief Control Office leads a team of CCOs across the entity.


This team is responsible for embedding the Non-Financial Risk Framework across HBMX, and leading risk and control remediation's (as required).

The team acts as First Line of defence and ensures the bank operates within its risk appetite by providing specialist risk and control knowledge and insights, promoting risk and control monitoring and decision-making.


This role in particular is a key role within the governance pillar of the team, working closely with senior management and a wide variety of stakeholders to provide oversight, insight and challenge across a wide range of entity risks and controls.


Activites

  • Providing support in drafting and challenging a wide range of entity wide CCO Risk and Control papers, including adhoc specialty topics
  • Providing high quality secretariat services to Committees, Forum and Working Groups as appropriate
  • Assisting in the promotion of accountable risk and control decisionmaking based on quality data and commercial analysis
  • Assisting as a trusted advisor for the HBMX/LAM Chief Control Officer, the HBMX/LAM Chief Operating Officer and the wider DBS senior management on how to accurately manage their operational risk and all items related e.g. risk assessments
  • Actively challenging poor, inefficient or excessive controls, related tasks and behaviours
  • Actively looking for and executing streamlining opportunities, leveraging innovation as appropriate
  • Providing support to adhoc projects / work as required across the entity on behalf of the HBMX/LAM CCO
  • Producing clear, concise, and insightful reports on governance matters, and provide strategic review and insights on critical reports.
  • Maintaining and developing existing and new dashboards and reporting tools for HBMX, working in conjunction with various stakeholders to deliver enhanced, improved reporting capabilities across the entity.
  • Effective interactions and governance in relation to key country/region reporting, working within Governance team to deliver accurately to governance timescales. This will include supporting HBMX/LAM CCO in the development and enhancement of end to end governance frameworks and practices, aligned to the entity strategy, policy, and regulatory expectations.
  • Implementation of effective governance across HBMX, providing insightful advice and support to key stakeholders in relation to governance requirements. This will include prioritisation and streamlining of priorities, accurate action tracking and followup as needed, and support in the preparation of insightful briefings and analysis for the COO.
  • Actively support the creation of the HBMX/LAM COO Governance Strategy, seek opportunities to innovate and improve existing reporting processes and actively support the various COO transformation programmes.
Requirements


Requiriments

  • Expertise in Risk Management methodology, including MI & Reporting.
  • Excellent written and wider communications skills in both Spanish and English, with demonstrated experience of writing governance papers to a high quality
  • Ability to understand desired business outcomes across the matrix and ability to translate into well communicated and clearly articulated papers is essential
  • Significant experience in a risk and control environment
  • Ability to develop trusted advisor status with key stakeholders across the entity
  • Flexible in their style of work, curious and analytical is essential
