The Materials Manager oversees all daily operations of the materials flow for AMETEK to ensure the optimum balance between satisfaction of customer requirements and inventory investment of the organization.

The role is responsible for planning of sales order into production, procurement of material, processing of material within the factory and shipment of the sales order to the customer.

In addition, drives the continuous improvement process in the area of supply chain within the area of responsibility. Management and coordination of assigned resources including people, space, and materials.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Plan, organize, direct, and run optimum daytoday operations of the planning / tactical purchasing and warehouse functions to exceed our internal and external customers' expectations.
  • Allocate resources effectively and fully utilize assets to produce optimal results
  • Implement strategies in alignment with company strategic initiatives and provide a clear sense of direction and focus.
  • Continuously improve metrics to improve key business KPI's. High focus on metrics such as On Time Delivery, Past Due, Inventory turns, freight in/out, material shortages, inventory accuracy, and others deemed as appropriate.
  • Monitor operations and trigger corrective actions to achieve business and continuous improvement goals.
  • Manage fiscal responsibility. Develop and manage budget for materials area, work with teams on solutions to reduce cost. Properly communicate issues that could affect financial performance to appropriate levels in the organization. Use budget as a guideline but ensures operations is properly investing in the business to foster continuous improvement.
  • Maintain MRP system integrity. Ensure facility is properly operating MRP within SAP, to include integrity of data and resolution of action messages.
  • Oversee planning and scheduling to ensure plans and schedules are communicated and followed up on.
  • Manage activities related to strategic or tactical purchasing, material requirements planning, and inventory control,
  • Implement new and/or improved supply chain processes.
  • Develop or implement procedures or systems to evaluate or select suppliers.
  • Analyze inventories to determine how to increase inventory turns, reduce waste, or optimize customer service.
  • Collaborate with other departments, such as engineering, and quality assurance, to identify or qualify new suppliers.
  • Define and communicate performance targets for supply chain team. Hold team accountable to those targets.
  • Key team member or leader on special projects as required to assist in improving materials management within Abaco.

Skills

  • Team management focused on high performance levels. Purchasing, Planning, Stockroom, Receiving, and Shipping. Shortage mitigation, cost reduction, and inventory reduction.
  • Implementation of MRP system discipline maintain dates, parameters, action message, how discipline was maintained and improved. Strong understanding of MRP
  • Planning, Scheduling and Forecasting.
  • Implementation of higherlevel materials planning systems that led to significant improvement in materials. e.g., Kanban, VMI, Consignment with consignment, etc.
  • Managed cycle count program that moved from counting parts to fixing systemic issues.
  • Drives continuous improvement well versed and knowledgeable on lean tools and techniques to drive improvement
  • VSM, Spaghetti Diagram, PFEP

Experience

  • BS degree in business, management or other related discipline. Masters in related field a plus.
  • At least 5 years of progressive experience in management of materials and sourcing within a design and manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in materials management within the electronics industry and working in a fastpaced environment (lot of parts, high mix, hard to get parts)
  • Previous management experience of purchasing, planning, and warehouse activities.
  • Experience in total quality, Six Sigma, or other similar environments.
  • Working knowledge and understanding of SAP system and its use in a manufacturing environment.
  • CPIM certification a plus
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Access.

  • Timely decision maker, able to prioritize critical tasks that add the highest value.
