JOB DESCRIPTION:


Position Summary:

The Materials Manager is responsible for managing and directing all activities involved in the acquisition and use of all materials employed in the production of finished products.

These responsibilities & activities include directing supply base on procurement of raw stock, planning team to assure proper plan is driving correct inventory levels, Production team to assure disposition procedure of scrap and line accumulation are being adhered to, Inventory Control and management of physical inventory programs with cycle counts and annual physical inventory events, Warehouse management to assure best space optimization and utilization, Shipping, Receiving and Logistics.


Essential Functions:


  • Participate in the development of the 12 month Sales, Inventory & Operating Plan (SIOP I). Creates and monitors action plans to address and resolve metric issues (inventory variances SIOP II, delivery, and inventory accuracy).
  • Analyzes, reviews and establishes inventory levels of raw materials based on anticipated production levels, lead time requirements, inventory costs, turnover rates, etc. to obtain maximum efficiency and cost savings.
  • Ensures optimum inventory levels and verifies inventories by overseeing the conduct of physical inventories or cycle count programs.
  • Manages inventory variances; creates and monitors action plans to address and resolve variance issues; develops and implements business processes to address shortterm or longterm issues.
  • Manages ontime material delivery for both raw material (inbound) and OEM/AM/STO (outbound).
  • Ensures adequate headcount available to support business needs; ensures effective recruitment, training and retention of key staff within the materials group.
  • Establishes, maintains, publishes and utilizes effective management measurement tools for use within organization.
  • Responsible for the activities of the Shipping, Receiving, and Warehousing functions in terms of timely loading and shipping of finished goods; efficient utilization of space and personnel; and internal logistics of material to insure an organized material flow.
  • Responsible for implementation of and ongoing functionality of the SAP system from an overall organization expectation and functional inventory flow responsibilities.
  • Support the identification of excess and obsolete inventory items; partner with manufacturing personnel to develop disposition actions.
  • Partner with corporate and manufacturing personnel to drive improvements on inventory and material flow for cost reductions.
  • Coordinate the creation and verification of PPAP POs, Kan Ban and MRP requirements to suppliers (within the established inventory goals).
  • Coordinate efforts with the corporate supply base management team to work directly with suppliers (international and domestic) to resolve material issues and concerns (debit memos, weekly open orders, shipping needs, etc.)
  • The employee has the authority to stop the production line, when he/she notices that the product has a quality problem or defect.
  • Active member of the CR committee, master data governance, control CR rollups, request CR's to resolve bill of materials issues.
  • Responsible for the production planning group.

Experience/Education

  • CPIM Certification preferred
  • Education required: Bachelor's Degree
  • Business Administration or equivalent experience required.
  • Minimum 5 years progressive experience in Purchasing, Production Control, Inventory Control, Traffic and Materials Management + MRPII

Skills:


  • Preferred Skills/Qualifications: Skilled in the area of materials management including negotiation, risk analysis, capacity analysis, and inventory management.


  • Systems Computer skills

  • Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook. Experience with planning/purchasing
    (SAP/R3-APO) systems and the internet.
  • 100% Bilingual (
    English/Spanish)
