    Description

    CPKC is looking for a sales professional to manage Intermodal customers, this position builds and maintains ongoing client relationships in order to create demand for the Company's products and services and generates new revenue opportunities across the global organization. It coordinates strategies and efforts on behalf of clients to expand the relationship, improve overall profitability, and ensure retention and satisfaction. This position works closely with sales, relationship management, and technology associates across the enterprise to determine the best solutions for clients through existing and future products and services. It cultivates and develops lasting client relations and demonstrates a solid understanding of the business, financials, products/services, the market, and the needs of clients.

    Accountabilities

    • Maintains direct channel of communication with other KCS departments to ensure marketing and sales plans and goals are aligned with other departments.
    • Manages customer relationships by actively creating solutions to best meet their business needs.
    • Serves as the main contact for assigned customers.
    • Establishes strategy for markets for which they are responsible; Develops account strategies and plans.
    • Identify, qualify and secure key business development opportunities
    • Effectively communicate terms of sale and collaborate with key stakeholder groups on service standards to facilitate execution and measure the reliability of the product sold to customers
    • Plans and owns oversight and analysis of revenue and contributions; forecasts and determines market outlook for area of responsibility.
    • Works to optimize market share and total contribution.
    • Handles all business development activities within business unit.
    • Exemplifies CPKC Vision, Values, and Culture interactions with coworkers, business partners, customers and stakeholders.
    • Evaluates and applies follow up for the results of sales checking for the daily, weekly and monthly reports provided by Marketing, for defining the necessary strategies.

    Ideal Candidate Qualifications

    Required

    • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college, preferably in a job related major field of study
    • Minimum five (5) years of relevant professional experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience

    Preferred

    • Railway knowledge and experience preferable
    • Transportation industry knowledge is required
    • Mexico, Canadian and US Railway industry or transportation knowledge required
    • Trucking, 3PL, transportation logistics knowledge and experience
    • Excellent understanding of company products and services
    • Excellent understanding of the key market segments
    • Decision making and problem solving skills
    • Extremely high relationship and customer relationship management skills
    • Must be able to execute in the very tactical short term and longer term in excess of a year
    • Excellent influencing and negotiation skills
    • Strong written and verbal and presentation communication skills
    • Financial acumen, financial analysis skills
    • Understanding of commercial policies
    • Policy & regulatory understanding of impact on all markets
    • Understanding of Supply Chain Logistics
    • Understanding of national and international/global trade business
    • In depth knowledge of stratified sales
    • Fluent in English and Spanish

    Working Conditions

    • This position has a regular full time schedule with a normal work week of Monday through Friday. There may be a need for occasional work after hours or weekends.
    • This position may require minimal travel up to 30% of the time.
