ABOUT WHIRLPOOL CORPORATION

The team you will be a part of:

  • The Engineering team discovers, develops and evaluates new product ideas, enhancements, or strategic product extensions, and translates research discoveries into usable and marketable products. Leads, plans and tracks all phases of the product life cycle, from inception to introduction into the marketplace. Coordinates with various functions to ensure successful product development and implementation.

This role in summary:


Your responsibilities will include:

Deploy technology strategy in alignment with the central Materials engineering team defining and managing properly the priorities
-
Coordinate the interaction with different groups (engineering, manufacturing, procurement, Suppliers) to ensure integration and implementation of Materials technology activities (strategy, cost, quality) within respective category in order to:


  • Interact with engineering in early phase to understand needs for materials resources
-
Approach and solve material related issue coming from engineer or production
-
Work with central Materials development team to ensure the proper selection of the raw materials and materials technologies for each respective product
-
Execute material solution (activity tracking, active testing on samples, pilot running) and drive knowledge reuse
-
Provide a central point of contact for resolution of materials issues from production or supply base.

Minimum requirements:

-
Bachelor's Degree in Materials Science or Chemistry or Mechanical/Chemical/Materials Engineering
-
2 + years of Experience in Materials Companies or Company Materials Departments
-
2 + years of Experience in project management, engineering systems, lean product development and relative tools (FMEA, DVP,...)
-
Fluent in English

Preferred skills and experiences:

-
Masters in Materials Science or Chemistry or Mechanical/Chemical/Materials Engineering.
-
Ability to interact with different Functions ( Engineering, GCD, Manufacturing, Procurement, Marketing)
-
Great communication skills, sense of urgency and capability to work under pressure for multiple tasks are needed requirements.

Effective soft skills
-
Materials science knowledge both at raw material and component development level
-
Experience on Steel or Foam & Gas commodity is priority
