Position Summary:


This will be a key role in our Chemical Analysis Division (CAD) with primary responsibility to lead alternate sourcing projects, cost savings initiatives, as well as support New Product Induction (NPI) and Value Engineering.


As the NPI & Technical Sourcing Engineer you will work with our European and Asian Sites to lead the execution of transitions, process improvement and other change programs and ensure successful category strategies are delivered.

The role is critical in ensuring smooth program execution, including transitions, reengineering initiatives, automation projects or system implementations.

The job holder will collaborate with a wide range of colleagues within and outside of Procurement, ensuring an integrated approach.


Responsibilities:


  • Work closely with R&D, Operations, Quality and Global Category Team to support delivery of NPI projects (Time to market, COGS, Supplier selection, etc)
  • Engage strategic suppliers together with R&D on early design involvement of the main NPI Projects
  • Build up and deliver the robust plan of dual sourcing strategy through close collaboration with R&D, global category team, and division procurement team
  • Lead procurement and supply base related NPI projects that contribute to improved supplier spend performance
  • Support divisional footprint initiatives make vs consensus the design NPI phase and drive the execution in line with R&D timeline and operations objectives, including the realization of local/regional supply base solutions
  • Translates NPI sourcing requirements for (future) supplier capabilities and supplier performance to Category Management Team and divisional SQE team
  • Serve as the point of contact for the collaborators and ensure the implementation of Enterprise Processes such as Supplier Quality, Supplier Risk and Supplier Management
  • Lead regional, multifunctional, geographically distributed teams to achieve the desired outcomes
  • Coordinate with team members to identify, document and resolve resource constraints
  • Gather and collate project information and ensure clear communication of progress updates (risks, issues, actions and decisions)
  • Applies consistent project management approaches and processes, identify and report roadblocks and variances to project plan, ensure projects are on schedule and achieve stated objectives. Coordinates with team members to identify and document resource constraints
  • Provide support to the Category Management team to develop cases specific to CAD that support Thermo Fisher's overall procurement objectives e.g. RFQ Documentation, Bid Analysis, Supplier Pricing Management.
  • Work with key partners to identify and develop sourcing solutions that provide better value and better risk management for the business
  • Handle regular reporting cadence and adhoc reports including leadership reports & presentation.
  • Supports supplier consolidation to qualify preferred suppliers and migrate spend from incumbent, nonpreferred suppliers

Experience, skills & abilities required:


  • Previous experience of working in an industry with highly engineered and regulated products.
  • Good influencing skills and ability to work with business partners and customers to achieve key results on time and within plan plus develop good working relationships to complete assigned projects.
  • Ability to successfully support multiple critical projects and priorities to timelines in a business
  • Good project management skills and experience (planning tools, defining work, case and baseline development)
  • Ability to work collaboratively across teams and regions
  • Excellent presentation, verbal and written communication skills across all levels of the organization

Education and Experience:


  • University degree (Mechanics/Electronics/Business/Industrial Engineering) or a combination of education and experience that demonstrates the required skills.
  • Procurement/Project Management/6 Sigma/PPI/Kaizen certification desirable
  • 5+ years of procurement/sourcing/manufacturing/NPI program management experience
  • High level of proficiency with core Procurement skills (engineering, sourcing)
  • Experience running complex, programs and project initiatives ranging from Supply Chain improvements, value engineering and systems implementation
