Our client is a global leader in designing, manufacturing, and supplying electrical, electronic, and fiber optic connectors as well as cable and interconnect systems. Their Mexicali operation focuses on producing electronic and fiber optic connectors, cable assemblies, and interconnect systems used in various applications such as telecommunications, industrial equipment, medical devices, automotive, and more.

The Extrusion Engineer Role

The Extrusion Engineer will report to the Operations Manager and be responsible for ensuring all processes are in control to produce parts and manage continuous process improvement plans in areas of safety, quality, schedule, and cost performance over product lines. This role will be accountable for meeting and improving production line performance by driving a culture of continuous improvement in operations.

Main Responsibilities:

1. Collaborate with Materials, Engineering, Maintenance, Quality, and Production Teams to achieve shared goals and objectives aligned with customer needs and business unit targets.
2. Direct responsibility for efficient operations of production lines.
4. Determine and implement world-class quality control mindset and standards.
5. Analyze gathered data through statistical methods and make recommendations based on analysis.
6. Create or construct bill of materials, process flows, and Process Failure Mode Effects Analysis (PFMEA).
7. E nsure health and safety regulations are met.
8. Provide direct support to the production line.

Requirements

1. Bachelor's degree in engineering (Electrical, Electronic, Mechatronic, etc.).
2. 3-5 years' experience in an extrusion manufacturing environment.
3. Proven track record in manufacturing process troubleshooting and improvement.
4. Familiarity with quality assurance procedures and general statistics.
5. Experience with Statistical Process Control (SPC) tools to control, validate, and improve processes.
6. Solid English verbal and written communication skills.
7. Strong organizational and management skills.
8. Experience in managing technicians and engineers.
9. Experience using tools such as Six Sigma, Design of Experiments (DOE), and PFMEA.
