Georgia-Pacific is seeking a Senior Automation Project Manager to join our Technology Solutions Group.

The Senior Project Manager has responsibility for successfully leading, developing, planning, controlling, and managing project deliverables for automation capital projects across Georgia-Pacific's facilities in North America.

This role is responsible for automation projects throughout the entire project life cycle providing customer support, leading project-related communications, and taking full project management.


The Senior Project Manager manages the efforts of team members and third-party vendors and usually involves extensive interaction with cross-functional teams focused on the delivery of new automation/robotics projects.

Primary objectives are to develop value creating automation projects, manage project scope and scope changes, perform to schedule and budget, ensure customer satisfaction with the equipment's performance and services provided, and to deliver business financial results that create real long-term value across the enterprise.

The Senior Automation Project Manager will report to the Director of Automation - Project Management.


What You Will Do In Your Role:

  • Communicate with operating departments, capability groups, maintenance and engineering to determine opportunities to add value to the facility/company and recommend/implement solutions.
  • Lead development of scope and scope change management, schedule management, cost management, open issue management, risk analysis, project kickoff, performance management and compliance assurance.
  • Own project management through complete product life cycle from concept to final design, to equipment installation and startup and acceptance/sharing of best practices and lessons learned across Georgia Pacific divisions
  • Show indepth understanding of each assigned project's financial details and budget.
  • Prepare and communicate via project status meetings and appropriately escalate critical issues.
  • Coordinate and monitor project documentation, timelines, technical performance, budget, production, quality deliverables, and corrective action initiatives.
  • Develop and evaluate investment alternatives that provide the best longterm value creation solution, coordinating with the Facility, Business, Engineering, Sourcing and Legal teams.
  • Partner with procurement and sourcing teams to align on equipment and construction contracting strategies, including bidding, cost evaluation, selection, and award.
  • Specify equipment and construction requirements to implement projects.
  • Manage third parties including but not limited to outside consultants, contractors, and technical resources.
  • Monitors the project from initiation through delivery. Organizes the interdepartmental activities ensuring completion of the project/product on schedule and within budget constraints.
  • The duties will also require proposal and estimate generation, client negotiations, contract review and subcontractor communications.

Requirements:


  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Automation, Robotics, Industrial Controls or Mechanical Engineering, Project Management, or Engineering
  • 5 or more years of experience in automation or engineering services industry.
  • 3 or more years of experience in Project Management managing complex projects.
  • Ability to work in a variety of manufacturing, industrial and construction environments, including nights and weekends if required.
  • Able to travel at least 50%

  • Experience with robotics, automated guided vehicles (AGV's) and other technologies that enable automation
  • Experience supporting Automated Guided Vehicle development and deployment
