EHS Specialist:

SUMMARY:
Assist and support the operations with implementation of EHS Function related responsibilities as directed.


FUNCTIONS:


  • Assist and support the EHS Supervisor/Manager with the development and implementation of policies, programs, and procedures for compliance with EHS requirements of the company and regulatory agencies
  • Support site with achievement of EHS objectives and targets.
  • Support in the recognition, evaluation, and control of work processes with potential hazard/risk exposures relative to safety and the environment.
  • Conduct initial hazard/risk assessments and reassessments of operations.
  • Conduct various safety and environmental related sampling and analysis procedures as defined in operation protocols, procedures, and work instructions.
  • Support with managing EHS related documentation as directed.
  • Assist with developing and providing EHS related training to employees and supervision personnel. Track training implementation and report status of training activities.
  • Assist with various EHS related audits and inspections.
  • Participate on the sites EHS related teams/committees and support their activities and efforts.
  • Support plant wide emergency response procedures.
  • Support incident investigation and corrective action activities.
  • Manage the facility chemical management system to include tracking of all chemicals used at the facility and the related Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
  • Support the management of all waste disposal activities at the facility including but not limited to trash, cardboard, biohazard, waste water, waste oil, and hazardous waste.
  • Support other EHS related activities as directed.
  • Work facetoface with shop floor employees to promote and improve EHS.

ADMINSTRATIVE FUNCTIONS:


  • Use and maintain various computer databases as applicable.
  • Be computer literate in use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Interoffice correspondence, written as necessary.
  • Utilize the EHS data management website.

RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Ability to work with computer keyboard/screen daily.
  • Ability to work in manufacturing/assembly operations.
  • Physical capabilities site to define.

EDUCATIONAL and EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:


  • Completed a Manufacturing Apprenticeship at the site or in a similar industry and has a strong interest in EHS.
  • Less than Two (2) years' experience in manufacturing environment with emphasis on safety/environmental management. Must have ability to meet assigned roles and responsibilities and be capable of supporting all EHS Function activities as directed.
  • Ability to become knowledgeable and demonstrate understanding of EHS Management System requirements and ISO (14001, 45001, certification requirements.
  • Ability to become knowledgeable and demonstrate understanding of EHS compliance requirements for the facility.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills, communication skills, and ability to effectively interface with internal and external personnel.
  • Achieve minimum of the company Level 2 Ergonomics proficiency if this is relevant at the site.
