    About the role:

    This role will work closely with our Design, Delivery, Publishing Concept, and Content Development teams, providing vision and direction for researching and creating media assets including images, animations, and videos in a global work environment.

    You will also ensure that all assets are produced to the highest quality and are consistent and faithful to the brand, ensuring agreed schedules and budgets are maintained.

    You will be expected to achieve the above by effectively selecting, commissioning, and managing appropriate third-party vendors, while also providing creative input, support, and advice to both, internal and external teams.

    Responsibilities:

  • Work across different projects, from brand-new courses to new editions, adaptations, and updates which vary in complexity, scope, and size.
  • Prepare and manage budgets for all projects you work on, ensuring that the most accurate costs possible are submitted for Investment Approvals.
  • Provide vision and creative direction for the acquisition, sample, and creation of media assets, including animations, researched and commissioned photography, and videos.
  • Scope out the exact nature of work required through detailed discussion with project teams, helping the team to articulate and define all key requirements.
  • Develop a comprehensive video production plan from the inception of assets to achieve practical asset reuse across series, considering the English proficiency levels, scope and sequence, and market demands of each segment.
  • Follow best practices for supplier management ensuring consistent and comprehensive briefing, day-to-day oversight, performance tracking, reporting, and providing feedback to the Design and Media Development Manager.
  • Scrupulously maintain records, ensuring that all legal paperwork is filled appropriately against each project and can be easily located for reference.
  • As each project is delivered, archive all assets and support documentation in the agreed format and structure.
  • For photo and video researched projects, ensure that suppliers/freelancers obtain rights permissions for current and future editions.
  • As required, produce and direct video and photo shoots, ensuring that they comply with Macmillan Education standards.
  • Exprerience, Skills & Qualifications:

    Essential:

  • Educated to degree or equivalent level, preferably in media, photography, animation, or film
  • Good command of written and spoken English (mandatory)
  • Media production (verifiable experience)
  • Working in a content delivery and/or operations team in the publishing industry
  • Understanding of digital and conventional printing publishing processes
  • Project management – managing own (multiple) projects through to delivery
  • Able to manage budgets and schedules
  • Commissioning and managing suppliers and/or freelancers in a publishing environment
  • Strong and clear communication style (written and spoken)
  • Desirable:

  • Background in ELT publishing, preferably in content delivery or media research and creation
  • Experience in commissioning and managing suppliers to carry out media research
  • Experience in commissioning photo and/or motion shoots
  • Experience in casting, location research, filming, and audio
  • Editing and post-postproduction skills
  • Knowledge of the animation process
  • Intermediate knowledge of Adobe suite: Photoshop, Illustration, Premier, After Effects.
  • Experience working with children, either voluntarily or on a professional basis
  • Experience with Intellectual Property, Photo rights, and permissions
  • Experience working in a global diverse environment
