    Schedule: 40 hrs per week (Full-Time US Business Hours)

    Compensation: $4,000 - $5,000 monthly rate (Depending on experience)

    Company Overview

    Our client is an early-stage EdTech startup building an AI-powered learning platform that transforms middle school lessons into interactive, escape-room-style quests. They are a mission-driven company focused on rebuilding student comprehension through engaging, game-like experiences and real-time teacher insights.

    Position Overview

    The Founding Full-Stack AI Engineer will lead the technical development of the MVP, owning the end-to-end system including backend infrastructure, and AI integration. This role requires a hands‑on builder who can evaluate existing code, architect scalable multiplayer systems, and collaborate directly with founders to ship a production‑ready platform. The ideal candidate acts as a true partner, balancing rapid execution with scalable architectural decisions.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Evaluate the current prototype codebase and determine the optimal path forward (reuse, refactor, or rebuild).
    • Lead the full-stack development of the MVP, including frontend, backend, infrastructure, and AI-powered systems.
    • Design and implement multiplayer / multi-user learning environments supporting real-time collaborative sessions.
    • Develop backend services, APIs, and session management systems to support multi-team gameplay environments.
    • Integrate AI capabilities, including model orchestration, prompt systems, reasoning workflows, and AI-driven learning feedback.
    • Architect and build multiplayer/multi-user systems to support synchronized sessions for small student groups (conceptually similar to breakout rooms).
    • Integrate AI algorithms and LLMs (e.g., OpenAI) to power student reflection engines and teacher insights.
    • Ensure strict adherence to data privacy and security standards suitable for child-facing education products (e.g., FERPA compliance).
    • Collaborate closely with founders to define technical milestones and iterate quickly based on pilot feedback.

    Qualifications

    Required qualifications

    • 4+ years of full-stack engineering experience (Mid-Senior level preferred).
    • Demonstrated experience integrating AI/LLMs into production products (prompt orchestration, API integration).
    • Experience building multiplayer or multi-user systems (handling shared state, session management, or real-time sync).
    • Fluent in English (C1/C2 level), written and spoken.
    • Experience working in early-stage startups or founding engineering roles.
    • Strong backend expertise with API design experience.
    • Ability to work autonomously with a "founding engineer" mindset (high ownership).

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience in the EdTech sector or building child-facing products.
    • Familiarity with education data privacy standards (FERPA, COPPA).
    • Experience with OpenAI API specifically.
