Purpose Statement:


Development of the manufacturing process and features from initial concept to mass production on systems integration (all post PCBA processes) to assure efficiency and quality on the products.


Key Job Accountabilities:

  • Continuous Improvement:
Conduct continuous improvement efforts at the process level to:

  • Improve yields, productivity, efficiency and effectiveness to deliver customer excellence and achieve Plexus enduring goals.
  • Analysis of process metrics data and identify root causes to conduct short and long term actions for improvements and CAPA resolution.
  • Training:
  • Identify, create and develop technical training requirements for assigned processes.
  • Support on the training and mentoring of manufacturing, product, and quality teams on equipment & processes.
  • Collaborate with higherlevel functional managers to ensure training is developed, maintained, and implemented effectively and timely at assigned processes to ensure required levels of proficiency.
  • Technical Customer Support:
  • Serve as the technical expert on Plexus site manufacturing as it relates to the customer's product, quality, manufacturability improvements and documentation.
  • Coordinate SME support as required.
  • Manufacturing Readiness:
  • Support during the PPQP phases and MRR process
  • Lead on translate product specifications and customer requirements into a manufacturing solution.
  • Cooperate with product engineering to set BOM structure, levels and buildthrough strategies.
  • Cooperate with industrial engineering and CI to work on capacity analysis, 3p process, layout definition and capital equipment justification as needed.
  • Manufacturing Operations:
  • Support ongoing production activities
  • Lead new machine setup and process setup, support on process equipment calibration and preventative maintenance programs.
  • Manage equipment and nonBOM material vendors for issues related to quality, support, and performance gaps.
  • Manage process compliance to industry standards, Plexus SOP's, and customer specifications.
  • Lead implementation of User Group standards across the site and support User Group projects on specific processes as required.
  • Support and collaboration with product engineers for process validation activities.
  • Sustain Production:
  • Provide routine technical support and expertise to manufacturing personnel.
  • Review / Approval of changes associated with ECO / Deviations and support on the impact analysis.
  • Lead required changes to operatorfacing communications (assembly build instructions, deviations, rework instructions, etc.)
  • Support on customer returns to establish labor estimations, routing necessary for rework, repair, upgrade, etc.
  • Technology Direction:
  • Identify gaps in current capabilities and support evaluation of potential solutions to fill needs.
  • Support global evaluation of equipment and materials.
  • Manage equipment obsolescence and end of service support.
  • Support capital forecasting for equipment and material upgrade or obsolescence.
  • Collaboration with site, regional and global SMEs as needed.
  • Manage site technology transfer to support customer requirements.

Additional Accountabilities:

  • Lead all equipment and softwarerelated Acceptance/Validation/Qualification actions, as required.
  • Lead evaluation, process development, and acceptance of customerspecific process equipment. Drive migration to Plexusstandard equipment, materiel and processes.
  • Lead the inventory of Plexus and customer owned equipment and spare parts.
  • Support on identification and qualification of external service suppliers.
  • Lead nonBOM materials procurement plan and stablish minimum/maximum levels for MRO items.
  • Ensure MSDS and required supporting information is provided to Environmental Health and Safety team.
  • Discuss with vendors, staff, and management personnel regarding purchases, procedures, product specifications, manufacturing capabilities, and project status.
  • Minimal travel may be required to meet the needs of the business (estimated 10%).
  • Other duties as assigned by management.

Education/Experience Qualifications:

  • A minimum of a Bachelor's degree is required; a Bachelor's degree in Engineering is preferred.
  • Five (5) years of related experience is required; Three (3) or more years of related experience is preferred.
An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the key job accountabilities may be considered.


Other Qualifications:

  • Ability to work well in fastpaced manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to design and conduct experiments, as well as to analyze, interpret, validate, and communicate data to key stakeholders.
  • Ability to design a system or process to meet desired needs within realistic constraints such as economic, efficiency, repeatability, environmental, health and safety. Includes documentation and controls to ensure long term sustainability.
