Position Overview

The Treaty Analyst overall responsibility for leading and managing life and health reinsurance treaties, producing/ensuring treaties of superior quality that meet or exceed all regulatory and corporate requirements and the ability to do this in English and Spanish language as required.

Staying abreast of business practices and trends that may affect the life and health reinsurance treaty function and ensure it has appropriate infrastructure in place.

Implementing all guidelines of RGA to ensure treaty compliance.


Overall responsibility for leading and managing license registrations and its corresponding annual renewals of RGA entities in the LA jurisdiction except Brazil; searching local regulations, obtaining, and producing RGA entity documentation and submitted to local insurance Regulators (directly, through Clients or local legal representatives as required).


Responsibilities

  • Develops, drafts, and produces reinsurance treaties (contracts) for management and client approval as required. Ensures that treaty documents (treaties, renewals) accurately reflect the reinsurance terms agreed to by RGA and its client and meet corporate and business compliance policies and procedures. Reviews, where applicable, client drafted documentation to ensure same. Escalates issues and language outside guideline parameters as required.
  • Develop and put in place an infrastructure to ensure RGA keeps abreast of trends that may affect the treaty function (regulations, competitors, and clients); identify, log and monitor key developments and ensure a company/business position on key issues is addressed.
  • Ensure treaty templates and clauses are developed and approved as required and meet the needs of the business and comply with corporate standards, regulations, and local business practices. Develop treaty templates when needed and as may be required depending on the product development working along pricing and internal sources and provide corresponding Spanish/English version.
  • Drive process improvements through various activities such as reviewing and improving internal controls and working closely with AVP, International Treaties, Global Legal Services and other functional groups as required. Develop and maintain treaty manuals and procedures as requested.
  • Develop and implement an internal audit process to evaluate and ensure that treaties and processes are following life and health reinsurance guidelines, log, report, and fix discrepancies.
  • Works with all departments in the Life and Health Reinsurance division and other departments with RGA Re to identify and resolve problems/issues. Develops relationships with client companies and seeks positive resolution to issues. Occasionally meets with visiting clients.
  • Organizes the preparation of monthly and annual reports and ensures reinsurance information has been recorded accurately.
  • Manage and update Life and Health Treaty SharePoint Site as requested.
  • Manage and obtain RGA entities license registrations in Latin American jurisdictions, except Brazil (as required). Consulting with our corresponding internal legal area, and our marketing business. Contacting local legal representatives, process translations, and obtain corresponding authorizations for payments of those expenses. Keeping informed legal area, and LA area as well (filing proper proof of annual renewals).

Requirements Education and Experience**
Required:
  • Paralegal degree or bachelor's degree or equivalent related experience in insurance, reinsurance, or law related position
  • 3+ years of legal or contracting drafting experience.

Preferred:


  • 5+ years related experience in treaty development
