Objective of the position

  • Support team in the construction and development of interior components while creating documentation via 3D math models and drawings with consideration of DRX technical, legal, and customer requirements.
  • Plan and coordinate deadlines and resources after consultation with the affected Design Engineer and/or Project Leader.
  • Act as internal and external contact person within CAD design function. Cooperate in internal working groups.

Principal activities

  • Analyze and evaluate CAD design changes (internal/ external), cooperate in negotiations (e.g. volume and costs of changes, etc.) and assure implementation.
  • Generate and check releasable 3D models of technical parts to verify that they meet customer as well as legal requirements.
  • Ensure that all documentation is properly created and maintained for new parts, modified parts, and purchase parts. Ensure that data is properly stored within PLM. Ensure that data transfer is occurring in an effective manner.
  • Utilizing the given surface model, conduct part conceptual studies to define the part break up and conduct concept execution studies.
  • Participate in FMEA documentation.
  • Assist, define and verify special and critical product characteristics.
  • Management of CAD developed parts until series production. Evaluate alternatives and recommend product solutions to components/assembly concerns throughout the development process.
  • In respect to CAD activities define tasks, recognize problems, analyze them and develop recommended solutions, clarification or opportunities for realization, with support for practical implementation.
  • Work with production/tooling to make sure that designs are feasible.
  • Include assembly and disassembly requirements in the definition of the part design.
  • Create technical drawings that include tolerance and dimensions w/ assistance from dimensional engineers.
  • Create assembly and technical drawings and be aware of all technical requirements.
  • Create principal sections through entire assembly and prepare concept drawings.
  • Generate 3D models of technical parts that meet customer requirements as well as legal requirements.
  • Manage data transfer internal & external.

Requirements:


Professional career:
Engineering Technology Degree - Preferred.


Relevant experience: 3-5 years in CAD product development within automotive interior components, Automotive industry product development, part and tool design, Working knowledge of CAD design requirements (UG NX or Catia), 2 years in Knowledge of GD&T, Plastic part development, injection molding processes.


Technical knowledge:
CAD, injection molding processes, GD&T, FMEA, Statistical Tools, Tools for problem solving, Customer specific requirements, Advanced English.
