The Caterpillar Tooling team in Monterrey, Mexico, has an opportunity for an entry level engineer to serve as a tooling designer.

This coordinating role will work under the guidance of experienced tooling engineers to support the concept, design and development tools with different as mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic and electronic systems.


Job Duties

  • Develop and maintain a keen understanding of internal and external customers' needs
  • Support the design, development and validation of mechanical fixtures
  • Develop or definition of plans for tooling designs
  • Participate in tooling design reviews to share recommendations with process partners

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in either Mechanical, Automotive, Materials, or Mechatronics engineering disciplines from an accredited university
  • 2 or more years of experience with either design, development, or modeling of tooling
  • Selfstarter with strong technical and analysis skills, attention to detail, customer focus, and the ability to perform concurrent assignments with team members
  • Ability to communicate technical information effectively with team members and process partners
  • Good planning and organizing skills
  • Strong English and Spanish language speaking and writing skills
  • Experience with 3D modeling software, such as CREO, Solid Works, Etc.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing process
  • Experience with data analysis and visualization tools, such as Tableau, Power BI or similar
  • Experience with DOEs, optimization and robust design
