How You Will Contribute**:


Reporting to the Director, Direct Procurement, as an Expeditor, Supply Chain, you'll be responsible for driving on time delivery from Ciena's component suppliers, managing open orders, expediting, escalating, and managing upside requests.

You'll actively engage with both external suppliers and internal Global Commodity Management (GCM) and Supply Chain teams in analyzing and reporting on the impacts, resolutions, and changes to the status of component deliveries/shortages.


  • You will proactively view and validate component supplier delivery commitments to ensure timely delivery of materials to Ciena's manufacturing partners and inform stakeholders of improved delivery schedules to facilitate quick reaction and increased production output, inputting accurate information into a centralized tracker on delivery commitments and changes.
  • You'll be responsible for identifying any potential risks around delivery delays or decommits received from suppliers or exceptions provided and trigger the appropriate escalation response.
  • You will review supplier metrics to understand trends or suppliers' issues which need to be escalated within Supply or Procurement Management and partner with component suppliers to resolve supply gaps in support of production and NPI.
  • You will participate in crossfunctional production and supplier meetings to ensure ontime build and customer shipments are not held up due to shortages, and assist with the escalation process, both internally and with the supplier.
  • You will be accountable for providing key input to suppliers of critical quantities and required dock dates at manufacturing partners for required finished goods builds.
  • You will be responsible for communicating forecast information/changes or pullins to suppliers.
  • And you will drive "whatif" and risk/buy analysis tied to broker parts found on the market back into the Ciena stakeholders to close shortage opportunities.

The Must Haves**:


  • Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts coupled with proven experience in a materials management function.
  • Demonstrated analytical skills coupled with the ability to synthesize considerable and complex data.

Asset:


  • ASCM (APICS) certification.
