    This is an opportunity to lead a Professional Services team, helping customers understand and implement Canonical's open source solutions in public clouds and their own data centers. We work across the entire spectrum of cloud offerings, from Ubuntu itself to virtualization and private cloud, Kubernetes, and sophisticated open source solutions like MLops platforms, data platforms, and more.

    The role of a Cloud Professional Services Manager at Canonical

    Our Field Engineering team designs private and public cloud solutions for customers directly, fitting their workload needs. The portfolio includes on-premise cloud solutions like Openstack, MicroCloud, Ceph, and solutions for public or private clouds like Kubernetes, Kubeflow, Spark, PostgreSQL, etc. Team members deploy, test, and hand over the solution to support or managed services after a project. Managers participate in presales conversations to provide technical advice during sales.

    A Cloud Professional Services Manager leads line management, career guidance, and develops engineering talent. Representing your team technically and driving collaboration with other teams and customers is crucial to success. You'll also participate in technical presales to help the department meet quarterly goals.

    This role is home-based, managing a team in your time zone.

    Your day-to-day responsibilities

    • Lead and develop a team of engineers from graduate to senior levels
    • Work remotely in a major time zone
    • Coach, mentor, and provide career development feedback
    • Identify and measure team health indicators
    • Implement disciplined engineering processes
    • Represent your team and product to stakeholders, partners, and customers
    • Develop and promote great engineering and organizational practices
    • Plan and manage progress on agreed goals and projects
    • Be part of the leadership team, collaborating with other leaders

    What we're looking for in you

    • Knowledge of cloud computing concepts & technologies, such as Kubernetes, Openstack, AWS, GCP, Azure, Ceph, etc.
    • Practical knowledge of Linux and networking
    • Experience in technical presales
    • You're a dynamic person who loves new projects and interactions
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
    • Passion for developing and growing people
    • Experience in leading, coaching, and mentoring engineers
    • Organized to ensure timely, high-quality results
    • An exceptional academic track record from high school and university (preferred)
    • Willingness to travel up to 40% of the time for company events, customer meetings, and tech events
