Position Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Transportation Manager to oversee and execute the day-to-day operations of our transportation department.

This role encompasses managing inbound shipments of parts and outbound shipments of final products, as well as coordinating with various entities such as suppliers, 3PLs, and carriers.

The Transportation Manager will be responsible for providing tactical direction and leadership to ensure operational requirements are met.

This position will have direct supervision over Operations Supervisors, each leading a team of Inbound or Outbound Load Planners/Customer Service associates.

Additionally, the role may involve oversight of off-site personnel involved in other operations execution activities, requiring cross-functional collaboration with Logistics, Customs, MPL, and Purchasing teams.

Primary Responsibilities:

People:

Interview and hire salaried associates (Supervisors/Specialists) and facilitate recruitment for the organizational structure.
Define duties, responsibilities, scope of authority, and accountability for team members.
Conduct performance reviews, corrective actions, and goal setting for salaried employees.
Provide career development, mentoring, and promotional opportunities for direct reports to nurture future leaders.
Offer leadership in identifying project risks early and guiding teams in developing appropriate mitigation plans.
Utilize leadership skills to align, develop, and lead a diverse workforce toward common goals.
Ensure the team is detailoriented and welltrained in problem resolution and escalation processes.
Intervene when necessary to resolve issues between project managers, operations, functional teams, and other Yazaki Areas.

Operations:

Assume responsibility for the daytoday execution of all transportation activities.
Monitor carrier performance to optimize value delivered to Manufacturing plants, Distribution Centers, Xdock, etc.
Quickly resolve any operational issues to eliminate production loss or transportation service failures, and communicate effectively with the Material Planning and FG Planning Team.
Understand freight flows and work with a diverse carrier base to solve complex customer supply chain challenges.
Formalize comprehensive project plans, clarifying timelines, milestones, goals, and ownership.
Review operating metrics and address outoftolerance results.
Oversee and support effective user training and coaching.

Requirements:

Degree Requirements: Bachelor's Degree in Business or Supply Chain Management, preferred.

Certification Requirements: SAP TMS experience preferred.

Previous Experience: - 6 years of related functional experience with P&L responsibility (transportation, warehousing, lead logistics provider, etc.) required years of managerial experience required.

Travel Requirements: Willingness to travel as necessary, work the required schedule, and be present at the specific location required.

Language: Proficiency in English and Spanish preferred.

Software: Familiarity with SAP, TMS, JDA, etc.

On-Call Requirements: None.

Physical Requirements: Primarily sedentary role.
