SUMMARY


Under the direction of the Regional Director of Operations and functionally reporting to Quality Director ISC, this role plans, coordinates, and directs the regional quality program in alignment for the TTC enterprise quality management system and best practices.

These systems are designed to ensure the production of products consistent with established standards by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate Quality Managers, Supervisors and/or quality staff for all facilities in their region of responsibility for The Toro Company.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Leads, motivates & empowers all Quality Management personnel at all regional locations.
  • Responsible to ensure compliance of materials and processes to specifications and regulatory bodies like ISO and other certifications.
  • Delivers results that meet quality and facility objectives and goals utilizing metrics such as supplier PPM, factory DPMO, CoPQ (Cost of Poor Quality) and other identified Key Process Indicators (KPIs).
  • Provides leadership for the development of a culture and environment focused on quality.
  • Develops and implements standard processes aligned with TTC's enterprisewide Quality Management System utilizing best practices like Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA), control plans, process control and Supplier Quality Assurance (SQA) processes.
  • Promotes utilization of statistical and problemsolving techniques.
  • Creates and implements inspection criteria and procedures and equipment.
  • Directs workers engaged in inspection and testing activities to ensure continuous control over materials, facilities, and products.
  • Responsible for maintaining relationships within the business, customers, and suppliers to maximize profit potential and ensure efficiency and ensure compliance to enterprise quality standards.
  • Coordinates objectives with production procedures in cooperation with other plant operations managers to maximize product reliability and minimize costs.
  • Applies total quality management tools and approaches to analytical and reporting processes within each department.
  • Plays active role on quality management teams within organization.
  • Designs and implements quality training programs to key personnel in conjunction with managers.
  • Investigates customer escapes regarding manufacturing quality and responsible for corrective actions and responses.
  • Champions a positive employee environment by promoting open communication, engagement and development of team members. Promotes a culture of trust, flexibility, teamwork and inclusiveness, ensuring all relevant functions are included in decision making processes as part of continuous improvement, problem solving and projects.
  • Selects competent talent and supports the development of their future potential. Ensures effective training and performance management of the teams.
  • Oversight and responsibility to ensure site maintains adherence to Quality KPIs and takes timely action to address adverse trends and deviations. Continuously monitors and partakes in global forums to assess opportunities for improvement.
  • Has a strategic view in identifying global alignment and developing strategies for bestinclass practices and benchmark against industry leaders and regulatory requirements for the Quality function. Stays up to date on new laws, regulations and industry trends affecting the company and assists in developing policies and training as needed.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Manages Quality Managers at regional manufacturing sites. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.

Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.


EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Quality, or Industrial Engineering OR equivalent experience.
  • May also have an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years' experience
  • Demonstrated leadership experience
  • ISO 9000 Quality Management System experience preferred

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Ability to qualify for American Society of Quality (ASQ) certification levels.


LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.


OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Good oral and written communications skills.
