DigitalOcean is looking for a highly motivated and experienced technical engineering manager to support our engineers, grow our culture, and lead a development team.

This person will be responsible for guiding the development of a mixed-skill engineering team, facilitating communications, providing clarity of vision and priority, and empowering the team to create creative solutions for our DigitalOcean customers.

What You'll Be Doing:

Recruiting, managing, and maintaining a worldclass remote engineering team
Planning and executing complex technical projects
Review and give input on architectural system designs.
Collaborating with technical leads and contributing to the overall architecture, design, and development of our products and services
Develop Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and utilize these KPIs to measure and report on the success of the team.
Developing processes and tools to improve product performance and quality
Working with the product team to ensure successful product and feature rollouts from requirements analysis through implementation and longterm operations
Collaborating with cross functional teams in infrastructure, operations, support, core services and systems engineering to design idiomatic, sustainable solutions
Developing processes and tools to improve team performance and qualityoflife
Supporting the goals and developing growth opportunities for team members, including career coaching, performance assessment and career development
Facilitating transparent, constructive communication between team members
Escalation path for the product oncall rotation.

What You'll Add to DigitalOcean:

Experience building software used by 1000s of users.
Experience managing, coaching, and mentoring software engineers
Lead a team where individuals enjoy coming to work, know what needs to be done, and have the resources to get their job done.
Efficiently manage the team to deliver value for users and the business.
Experience shipping products at scale and ontime, with a focus on the customer
Experience managing and delivering projects throughout the entire SDLC
Experience developing crossdisciplinary collaboration between engineering, operations, support, and product groups
Experience with endtoend quality best practices and their implementation
Experience with staffing, interviewing, building, and retaining teams
Experience conveying complex ideas in written, verbal and presentational format
Strong opinions, weakly held.
