Job Description:


The main purpose of this position is to use your functional and technical expertise to manage the built asset; both building facilities and the store in order to create an environment that strongly support the core business of IKEA.

As an essential co-worker in a small team of specialists, the Maintenance Technician is to;

  • Conduct scheduled & reactive inspections on the property listed equipment & systems
  • Attend and ensure that IKEA store operations are well managed, support your manager, the Facilities Magaer, in maintaining the building services in good operational condition
  • Supervise the works of contractors in compliance with their Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM), in house rules, safety and emergency procedures
  • Follow up scheduled maintenance in accordance to the Maintenance Plan (5 years) to schedule repairs and respond to service calls of the Store
  • Discuss/evaluate maintenance problem/service calls and agree to service delivery solution to IKEA Store

Responsibilities of the Job:


  • To contribute by ensuring a safe, clean and functional environment and providing a comprehensive maintenance service to the building equipment & machines for coworkers, visitors and customers in order to strengthen IKEA's position as the best home furnishing specialist in our local market.
  • To ensure all the building facilities assets and systems are are always maintain in a good and serviceable working conditions.
  • To contribute to maintaining the store 'In Shape As New'.
  • To contribute to maintaining, servicing, affect limited repairing and ensure that all mechanical, electrical and building systems and services are in good working condition at all times.
  • To contribute to the maintenance of the fabric of the building and ground.
  • To be accountable for all fixed and tangible assets and inventory pertaining to the building and systems therein.
  • To contribute to the effective implementation of facilities department routines and procedures.
  • To contribute to the effectiveness of the facilities department by providing the required services level to all areas of the store.
  • To contribute to the effective preventive maintenance program for all the building systems and structural requirements.
  • To affect limited repairs that is within IKEA's own inhouse maintenance team ability and capability.
  • To obtain and maintain a list of all thirdparty servicing and repair team ensuring all building structures and systems are kept in good working condition at all time.
  • To contribute to the planning, implementation and monitor energy saving and conservation strategies at all times.
  • To contribute to the planning, implementation and monitor preventive measures for all building structures and systems.
  • To investigate and trouble shoots all equipment failures and malfunctions before calling outside repairmen.
  • To coordinate and supervise work performed by outside contractors for maintenance.
  • To monitor the areas outside the building for problems, such as wall structure, roof, parking structure, asphalt paving, and landscaped areas.
  • Regular checking of bathroom facilities and taking corrective action where required.
  • To maintain and manage the workshop and 'loft' space, keeping them tidy and well organized at all times.
  • To perform all minor works i.e. repair, service and maintain by IKEA's own in house team.
  • To carry out work in public areas of the building in such a way as to minimize disruption, risk and inconvenience to coworkers, visitors and customers.
  • To supervise pest control programs so that the building is maintained pest free.
  • To confidently prioritize and manage time efficiently to complete tasks identified by your superior and through one's own initiative.
  • To contribute to the effective operation of IKEA's Health and Safety policies, procedures and standards.
  • To create an environment where the IKEA culture is a strong and living reality that embraces the diversity of coworkers and visitors.
  • To ensure a safe working environment for fellow Coworkers, Customers and Visitors in line with the local Authorities Requirements and IKEA's Health and Safety Policy.
  • Perform other duties as required that can reasonably be expected of such a position.
