Supervisor Design


The Component Engineering department is a shared engineering service which provides component design capabilities to the PKC organization for all customers and vehicle segments which require this need.


Responsibilities/ Skills.


Create new 3D CAD models and 2D drawings according to customer requests (approved and assigned Component Requests), using Pro/Engineer Cad software.

Create Change Engine issues as a means to communicate work assignments to support design issues or improvements in the current components requested by the customers, modify existing 3D models and associated 2D drawings

Create, Manage and Update product documentation.

Examples include but are not limited to:
a. Document TARS (Technical Assumptions and Requirements)

b. Create and update BOMs (Bill of Materials) as needed

c. Creating and updating DFMEA's & DVP&R's.

d. Create package models and support Sales department with information requested (Sales Drawings).

Create Tolerance Stack

Act as a liaison between Farmington Hills Component Engineering and the Torreon location

a. Support the metrology lab by reviewing part layouts and assisting with Engineering Part Approval Forms

Support the test lab by reviewing test results and create deviations

Provide technical support to operations departments, assisting with customer quality complaints related to product troubleshooting, including all company locations.

Provide customer support for design issues.

Lead and Support customer builds, launches and production of new components.

Coordinate and participate in meetings with the customers and supplier.

Lead material change efforts by selecting replacement materials and evaluating new compositions.


  • Create DVP&R and layout reports evaluation
  • Review and update drawings after the material change
Create and coordinate test plans to evaluate component functionality.

Select critical features for component evaluation purposes.


Coordinate tool design revision of new production launches with the operational departments and evaluate the first parts of a new production tool.

Coordinate with PE team and suppliers, activities for testing and prototypes

Create prototypes for customer evaluation.

Mentor fellow Engineering associates in 2D/3D CAD design and engineering methods.


Comply with the fulfil environmental, safety and health legal requirements set out in the legislation and regulations of our customers and other applicable stakeholder's requirements to whom we are related to our activities and products, as well as those EHS requirements established by the Company.


Profile.

  • Bachelor's degree in an Engineering related field (Industrial or Mechanical)

Skills/ Knowledge requirements:


  • 3+ years of 3D solid modeling experience (Pro/Engineer preferred, but UG/NX, Catia and Solidworks are also acceptable), automotive preferred
  • 2+ years of experience with injection molding component design
  • Knowledge of dimensional tolerance stacks, GD&T, DFM, DFMEA, DVP&R.
  • Knowledge of injection molded plastics materials
  • Proficient in computers, particularly MS Windows and Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Selflearning, task oriented, outstanding interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both written and verbal.
