About the Role:


Your Team:

Current role at present time does not have direct reports and/or indirect reports.


What You Will Do:


  • Lead Advance Sourcing for new technologies to support electronic and electrical component and assembly engineering and manufacturing.
  • Work closely with R&D and cross functional teams to identify vendors with new technologies that provide innovative solutions to HARMAN projects and products.
  • Introduce new suppliers to HARMAN's supplier Master Purchasing Agreement and Supplier Quality Management to ensure supplier alignment with HARMAN goals.
  • Execute RFIs, RFQs, and RFPs in alignment with Category Management strategy.
  • Support R&D new product design by identifying and purchasing components and parts for initial prototypes and/or CV builds.
  • Coordinate actions with R&D and cross functional NPI teams to understand cost impact to initial project costing.
  • Track, communicate status, and coordinate material readiness to support new technology introduction with R&D team.
  • Conduct supplier introductions and chair followup meetings with impacted teams to drive technology evaluations.
  • Ability to motivate and maintain effective working relationships with internal teams, colleagues, and suppliers.
  • Provide vendor feedback from suppliers with innovative strategies for optimizing sourcing effectiveness for product costs.
  • Provide solutions to cross functional team identifying supplier problems and corrective actions to maintain project schedule.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What You Need:


  • Bachelor's Degree in Procurement, Business, or Engineering field or equivalent combination of education, experience and training that provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • 7+ years' experience in identifying suppliers with new and advanced technologies.
  • Prior sourcing experience with R&D teams and supporting NPI projects.
  • Stay updated on market trends and technologies to drive informed decisions about component sourcing.
  • Prior experience with CM and IN-HOUSE manufacturing on complex products or subassemblies.
  • Knowledge of Electronic, Electrical, E-Mechanical, Electrical assembly background with sourcing both assemblies and components.
  • Be proactive and display initiative to drive sense of urgency; able to lead and drive discussions to achieve deliverables with R&D and cross functional NPI teams.
  • Ability to multitask with good organization skills to provide feedback to all impacted teams.
  • Good financial analysis skills.

What is Nice to Have:


  • 5+ years, experience in sourcing new products and negotiating finished goods and services in electronics, Displays, PCBA, and mechanical parts using strategic category management techniques to achieve results.
  • Program/project management skills in a cross functional team environment.
  • Strong skills with: Supplier management, negotiation, contract development/analysis, supplier evaluation, price/cost analysis.
  • Solid understanding of risk management techniques.
  • Problem solving and solid business decision making skills.
