About the role:


The primary objective of this position is to provide superior purchasing support by efficiently and accurately identifying high quality sources, negotiating T&C and procuring the required materials/services (raw materials, MRO, indirect, corporate), from suppliers in support North America manufacturing.

Primary responsibility is Assurance of Supply (AOS) for the factory.

The position is responsible for providing support for up to and including issuing purchase orders, scheduling, coordinating, and managing delivery of those orders.

Responsibilities also include building and maintaining strong working relationships with the stakeholders (Planning, manufacturing, Quality, R&D) as well as Material Handling personnel located in North America, and any other key stakeholders identified.

Additionally, strong working relationships, following Procurement processes and alignment with goals and objectives of the entire Orica Supply Chain Organization are a must.

Additional responsibilities include ensuring inventory levels are within guidelines and participating in efforts to optimize inventory levels and also driving continuous improvement activities toward a lean process and bringing benefits to the business.


What you will be doing:


  • Promote business safety standards and maintain a safe working environment.
  • Personal SHES Charter compliance (values)
  • Compliance with applicable regulations such as those related to storage, handling & transportation of explosives.
  • Sourcing, purchasing and managing goods and services.
  • Supplier development, negotiation and contract management, researching for new suppliers.
  • Conduct and document supplier performance reviews.
  • Procurement projects on strategic or operational level
  • Purchasing budgets (standard cost)
  • Ensure continues supply.
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with suppliers
  • Risk mitigation/dual sourcing
  • Manage commercial aspects and change management.
  • Ensure supplier quality and delivery OTIF
  • Interface with the entire Procurement, Planning, Manufacturing & Quality teams, Suppliers, and other key stakeholders on a regular basis.
  • Attend business meetings,
  • Provide supplier feedback and promptly escalate risks regarding product issues, product returns, and quality issues as necessary; include possible solutions and/or options to resolve whenever possible.

What you will bring:


  • College degree or diploma in business administration
  • Experience in Procurement, supply Chain or related field
  • Must be able to communicate at a professional level in English and Spanish
  • Ability to communicate at a Professional Level in French is a plus, but not required

Role dimensions:

Must be open to reporting to the Guadalajara office three days a week.

Report to direct manager at Canada.
