Job Responsibilities Advanced working knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC), Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and Lean Manufacturing, and how to apply these skills to improve quality, capacity, and reduce cost.
Ensure gauge calibration, certification, repeatability, and reproducibilityVerify tolerance/engineering specificationsDevelop and document product inspection standardsDevelop and implement torque sampling strategyDefine and conduct machine process capability analysisPrevious experience managing safety critical parts.
Reviewing codes, verify tolerances and design specifications and processes.Designs and develops methods, processes and procedures for recording and reporting of data results, and reports on those results.
Analyzes data to identify trends in product quality or defects with the goal of mitigating and preventing recurrence and future defects.
Ability to communicate and direct supplier activities at the management level.Reviews design plans, process procedures, test procedures, and quality manuals to understand the scope, requirements, and function of products.
Ensures products meet the organizations and customers quality and product integrity requirements.
Supports product development or operations team by providing analysis and expertise throughout the inspection process.
Identifies root causes of problems in the production process; recommends and/or implements corrective measures.
Previous experience managing safety critical parts.
Assist in the development and improvement of the Quality Management System.
Maintain a clean and organized work area; follow daily housekeeping and 5S standards.
Coordinate with Stamping, Body, Paint, and Assembly to support/attain plant-wide goals.
Possess demonstrable leadership abilities.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Education and Ideal Experience BS in Mechanical Engineering3+ years of experience of trucking/automotive manufacturing in Hard Trim, Door Panel, IP, ConsoleBasic understanding of FMEAs and their use and interpretationBasic understanding of GD&T related to dimensional tolerance specifications.
Basic understanding of DVP&R documentation related to functional specificationsBasic understanding of how to interpret statistical dataBasic understanding of automotive requirements for appearance for components on the interior and exterior of a vehicleA good understanding of an automotive process and how your commodities impact the rest of the vehicle with regards to function, cost, and timingPreferences and Qualifications Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.Extensive knowledge of or the ability to quickly learn the organizations production processes.
Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to serve as a liaison with developers, project managers, and customer support.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
Work Environment and Physical Demands The factory has both office area and shop floor area. The noise level in the office area is generally quiet.
Wearing of personal protective equipment's (PPE) when visiting the shop floor or when visiting a supplier's manufacturing locations is required.
