Supplier Quality Engineer

BASIC FUNCTION

Provide comprehensive purchased product Quality support to the Strategic Sourcing and NPD teams. Completes professional engineering assignments of moderately broad scope. Executes projects by using off-the-shelf (existing and within the same industry) technology with minimum guidance. Contributes to minor technical work of consumer innovation projects and other strategic business initiatives. Makes appropriate decisions using decision support tools and critical thinking including risk/reward ratios and critical pathing. Mindful of business impact. As part of a team, demonstrates and acts on innovative traits (curiosity, continuous questioning, open mind, and investigative). SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

1.Establish and implement consistent supplier selection and assessment processes, including input into the Qualified Supplier/Finisher List. Conduct quality assessments of potential suppliers, drive recordable improvements based on results and assist Procurement in determining appropriate suppliers to quote for purchased products. Conduct on-site audits of existing key regional suppliers on a regular or as requested basis.

2.Implement the Quality portion of the Supplier Scorecard for assigned suppliers. Monitor monthly performance and take ownership of results including initiating appropriate corrective actions and assisting suppliers, as necessary.

1.Frequent contact with Procurement regarding products & suppliers.

2.Frequent contact with Engineering/Design regarding products & standards.

3.Frequent contact with Operations/Manufacturing regarding purchased part related performance issues.

4.Frequent contact with Project Management and other cross functional associates to drive NPD process execution.

5.Frequent contact with other Supplier Quality associates regarding suppliers in their respective areas.

External Business Relationships:

1.Frequent contact with current and potential suppliers to Global Faucets regarding product related performance, process control & capability, as well as improvement opportunities.

2.Occasional visits to supplier locations domestic & abroad.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering discipline from an ABET-accredited program required.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Minimum 3-7 years of previous quality and engineering experience required. Ideal candidate to have an exceptional understanding of quality systems, product qualification and manufacturing processes, basic statistical methods, improvement methodologies, and program management. ASQ and/or other Quality certifications are desirable, such as Certified Quality Auditor/Engineer and Six Sigma Green/Black Belt.

SKILL LEVEL

Performs the Quality Project tasks for assigned categories / areas. This individual should enjoy being a change agent. Should possess good project management skills. Must have the capability to apply various fundamental quality techniques to a wide range of projects. Should be actively developing skills in product, process, and system related techniques. Good oral & written communication and computer skills are needed.

TRAVEL EXPECTATIONS

This position may require up to 30% travel domestically and internationally travel to support Procurement and Quality initiatives.
