Job Description:


The Material Planner Leader is mainly responsible for controlling information flow from the customers to all involved internal departments as well as the suppliers.

Key tasks are maximizing customer on time deliveries, maintaining acceptable inventory levels, scheduling production and reducing costs.

The Material Planner Leader also supports and leads improvement projects within the value stream. This position interacts regularly with shopfloor employees, management, senior management, customers and suppliers.

The level of quality and accuracy displayed in the performance of this job will have an impact on the daily operations of the department, the plant and, ultimately, customer satisfaction.


  • Release material against blanket purchase orders (Domestic and International Suppliers) to support production schedule as well as passthru business if required.
  • Communicate schedule updates with suppliers on a regular basis.
  • Responsible for the management of inventory levels, schedules and availability of selected purchased items to meet production levels.
  • Track Supplier delivery performance and follow up on past due suppliers. Drive corrective action with all late suppliers.
  • Communicate information as required to departments and personnel within the company.
  • Works closely with Logistics, Engineering, Purchasing (including incoming inspections), Manufacturing and Business Unit Mangers.
  • Provide routing instructions to all suppliers.
  • Contact suppliers by mail, phone, and / or visit to verify shipment of goods on specified date. Monitor parts and dunnage shortages. Expedite parts from suppliers when necessary.
  • Manage part shortage report on daily basis and report as necessary in production meeting.
  • Provide early warning system to all supplier base.
  • Analyze potential past due orders and the reasons/actions required to reduce or eliminate issues.
  • Followup and expedite materials as needed to meet customer requirements.
  • Followup expedite costs and charge it properly (supplier, customer, etc)
  • Communicate with all transportation companies to preclude delays in transit.
  • Reviews production schedules and related information and confers with department supervisors to determine material requirements to identify overdue materials and to track material. Reduce excess inventory to increase inventory turns.
  • Support on damage freight claims to ensure cost recovery and take corrective action with carrier.
  • Maintain good housekeeping practices.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree - Supply Chain Management, Logistics Management, Industrial Engineering, Economics, etc.


Language:


  • English

Experience in a similar role >5 years.
