Description


This position is responsible for registering the requisitions for purchase of materials, spare parts, tools and measurement equipments for the assigned areas, taking control of the inventories of the sub-warehouses, and collaborating in the development of the strategic plan of preventive maintenance.

The position is also responsible for supplying all spare parts requirements authorized by management to all supervisors to maintain the operation of the signal equipment.

Uses highly developed specialized skills to complete a wide range of tasks and procedures. Generates innovative solutions to complex processes or problems. Proposes improvements to processes. Delivers work, which directly impacts quality of team output to agreed timescales, service levels or similar metric.


Accountabilities

  • Controls the inventories of the subwarehouses as assigned and registers the movements to guarantee its appropriate handling.
  • Registers the requisitions for the purchase of materials, spare parts, and tools in the appropriate system.
  • Measures equipment for assigned areas and verifies the execution of the policies and procedures to guarantee the operation of the signaling equipment.
  • Collaborates in the development of the strategic programs of preventive maintenance, receives reports of malfunctioning, and offers technical advice or requests the signal area's technical personnel's support to maintain the operation of the equipment.
  • Supervises warehouse to maintain order and security in handling signal material and equipment.
  • Understands the relevant business metrics and applies effective tactics to sustain a culture of operational effectiveness that produces teams of high performing, engaged and empowered operational leaders.
  • Identifies when a rule/regulation/policy has been violated and has oneonone accountability conversations with an individual who has not met expectations, using KCS Candor, Aligning the Stars & KCS ABC's, and have the individual produce better results.

Required

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum five (5) years of relevant operations experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Specialist knowledge of one or more disciplines of railroad operations
  • Technician or Engineering or administration.

Preferred

  • Two years experience in warehouse administration.
  • Experience in computer packages, specially SAP

Working Conditions

  • Shift work is an essential function of this job. Employees must have the ability and willingness to support critically important railroad operations 24 hours per day/7 days per week, working various shifts as assigned. Schedule assignments may include afterhours, weekends and holidays.
