    We are seeking a skilled Cost Engineer specialized in Body Components – Large Plastic Parts to support global automotive programs. This role will focus on cost analysis, technical cost modeling, and optimization of large plastic body components such as fascias, bumpers, grilles, wheel flares, trim panels, and exterior plastic systems.

    The Cost Engineer will work closely with Engineering, Purchasing, and Program Teams to develop accurate cost estimates, analyze supplier quotations, and drive Design-to-Cost initiatives using activity-based costing methodologies, BOM analysis, and technical drawings.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Develop detailed cost estimates for large plastic body components using activity-based costing methodologies
    • Analyze BOM, CAD drawings, and technical specifications to determine cost drivers
    • Evaluate supplier quotations and identify cost gaps, optimization opportunities, and negotiation points
    • Support RFQ processes and supplier negotiations with data-driven cost analysis
    • Provide cost support throughout all vehicle development phases, from concept to production
    • Identify cost reduction opportunities through design optimization, material selection, and manufacturing process improvements
    • Support Design-to-Cost initiatives and benchmarking activities for plastic body components
    • Utilize internal cost engineering tools and methodologies to develop cost models and analysis
    • Collaborate cross-functionally with Engineering, Purchasing, and Program Teams
    • Document and present cost analysis results to stakeholders and program leadership

    Component Scope

    Focus on large plastic body components, including:

    • Front and rear bumpers (fascias)
    • Grilles
    • Rocker panels
    • Wheel arch moldings
    • Exterior trim components
    • Underbody plastic shields
    • Interior large plastic trim panels

    Manufacturing processes may include:

    • Injection molding
    • Blow molding
    • Thermoforming
    • Assembly operations
    • Tooling and mold cost analysis

    Basic Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Finance, Business, or related field
    • 4+ years of experience in automotive cost engineering, product engineering, or manufacturing
    • Experience with plastic components, injection molding, and tooling cost structures
    • Strong understanding of automotive manufacturing processes
    • Experience analyzing BOM, CAD drawings, and technical specifications
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
    • Excellent communication skills in English (written and spoken)
    • Ability to work in a global, cross-functional environment

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Automotive, Plastics, or Industrial Engineering
    • Experience costing large plastic automotive components
    • Experience with activity-based costing and cost modeling tools
    • Experience with NX, Teamcenter, or similar PLM systems
    • Experience supporting Design-to-Cost initiatives
    • Knowledge of tooling cost structures and injection molding processes
