    We are seeking a highly analytical Cost Engineer specialized in Automotive Body Components – Glazing & Sealing to support global vehicle programs. This role focuses on cost analysis, technical cost modeling, and optimization of automotive glass and sealing systems including windshields, side glass, back glass, and sealing components.

    The Cost Engineer will develop detailed cost models using activity-based costing methodologies, analyze supplier quotations, and support Design-to-Cost initiatives to ensure cost competitiveness throughout the full vehicle lifecycle. The role will work closely with Engineering, Purchasing, and Program Teams to support cost targets, supplier negotiations, and cost optimization activities.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Develop detailed cost estimates for glazing and sealing components using activity-based costing methodologies
    • Analyze Bill of Materials (BOM), CAD drawings, and technical specifications
    • Evaluate supplier quotations and identify cost gaps, cost drivers, and optimization opportunities
    • Support RFQ processes and supplier negotiations through data-driven cost analysis
    • Provide cost support across all vehicle development phases, from concept through production
    • Identify cost reduction opportunities related to materials, design, and manufacturing processes
    • Support Design-to-Cost initiatives and benchmarking activities
    • Utilize internal cost tools, databases, and methodologies to develop cost models
    • Collaborate with Engineering, Purchasing, and Program Teams
    • Document and present cost analysis results, cost-saving opportunities, and cost tracking data.

    Glazing Components

    • Windshields
    • Back glass (rear window)
    • Side door glass
    • Quarter glass
    • Sunroof glass panels
    • Laminated and tempered glass

    Sealing Components

    • Door seals
    • Window seals
    • Weatherstrips
    • Glass run channels
    • Roof seals
    • Hood and trunk seals
    • Rubber and elastomer sealing systems

    Manufacturing Process Scope

    • Glass manufacturing (laminated and tempered glass)
    • Cutting, bending, and shaping processes
    • Coating and tinting processes
    • Encapsulation processes
    • Rubber and elastomer extrusion
    • Injection molding of sealing components
    • Assembly operations

    Basic Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Finance, Business, or related field
    • 3–8+ years of experience in automotive cost engineering, product engineering, or manufacturing
    • Experience with automotive glazing, sealing, rubber, or glass components preferred
    • Strong understanding of automotive manufacturing processes and cost structures
    • Experience analyzing BOM, CAD drawings, and technical specifications
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
    • Excellent communication skills in English (written and spoken)
    • Ability to work cross-functionally in a global environment

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Automotive, Materials, or Industrial Engineering
    • Experience costing automotive glazing or sealing systems
    • Knowledge of glass manufacturing processes and elastomer production
    • Experience with activity-based costing methodologies and cost modeling tools
    • Experience with NX, Teamcenter, or similar PLM tools
    • Experience supporting Design-to-Cost initiatives
