Summary:


The USAID Office in Mission in Mexico is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for a Project Management Specialist (Energy and Environment) position.

Duties:

The position is located in the Office of Sustainable Development (OSD) at USAID/Mexico.

The Project Management Specialist (Energy and Environment) serves as a Foreign Service National (FSN) professional responsible for assisting with the management initiatives that include developing market-based solutions for better natural resource management and sustainable value chains, as well as initiatives addressing clean energy/energy efficiency.

These efforts will support broader goals and objectives, including working with the Government of Mexico to implement Nationally Determined Contributions and the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement.

Reporting to the Office Director or his/her designee, the incumbent will provide technical advice and analysis to team and office leadership.

S/he will contribute to the design, implementation, and monitoring of USAID sustainable landscapes, economic growth, biodiversity and energy activities.

S/he will also provide program and administrative support, technical oversight and program management functions, and coordinate USAID activities with other US government agencies and US Consulates around Mexico at the direction of OSD leadership.

S/he will work closely, and maintain strong working relationships, with key government and civil society actors within his/her assigned program areas.

Receives direct supervision from the Director of the Office of Sustainable Development or his/her designee. This will normally be a technical team lead.

Post Entry Training:

The USAID Program Cycle, Acquisition and Assistance for Contracting Officer's Representatives, financial management overview, and on-the-job training and orientation on USAID programming and procedures, as well as sector-specific training related to sustainable landscapes and economic growth.

Education:

The incumbent must possess a bachelor's degree or host-country equivalent formal education in a field relevant to the position, such as agriculture, economy, international affairs/development, environment-related sciences, or public policy/administration.

Prior Work Experience:

At least three years of progressively responsible, professional-level experience in the development and implementation of projects and/or programs, specifically related to strengthening market systems, natural resource management, rural development, agriculture, or clean energy with donor organizations, government institutions, diplomatic missions, or non-governmental development organizations is required.

At least two years of progressively responsible, professional-level experience in managing projects in the related fields (including providing financial and programmatic oversight).

Experience working collaboratively in virtual and in-person settings.


Job Knowledge:

Must have specific knowledge of sustainable agriculture, rural development, access to finance, market system-based approaches and climate change concepts, principals, and practices.

Knowledge of USAID/Mexico's climate change and economic growth portfolio is a plus, as is knowledge of indigenous issues and clean energy.

Must also have good knowledge of key stakeholders in GOM institutions at both the federal and subnational level, the donor community, private sector and environmental development NGOs in related fields in Mexico, and understand Mexico's political, social, cultural, and e
