Job Title
Payroll Manager


Position Purpose
Responsible of leading payroll cycle of 5 entities accurately and on time of a headcount of ~13,500 employees.

Also, ensure taxes and social contribution compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal government, e-invoicing and e-accounting regulations, including proper books recordings and balance sheet reconciliations, from employee and employer perspective.

In charge of reviewing controls and procedures for department improvements, and reports for internal and third parties usage.


Primary Accountabilities

  • Payroll Cycle
  • Leads the accurate processing of the entire payroll cycle and keeps payroll Key Performance Indicators in order to determine the root cause of errors and exceptions identified in the payroll process. As well, is in charge of payroll special projects and transactions where payroll or payroll taxes analysis is required, such as stock options, Restricted Stock Units, shadow payroll, electronic stamping, etc. Total estimated headcount of ~13,500 employees.

- "Compliance
  • Responsible of compliance before Authorities and accurate payment at all instance levels validating the correct calculation of social contributions (IMSS/ INFONAVIT) and payroll taxes (Income Tax withholdings and State payroll taxes for 32 States).
In charge of relationship with auditors and external third parties.

  • Tax filings and audits
  • Coordinates, review and validate variable number of governmental requests on federal and local legal tax matters, including research into past filings and creating specific responses based on the facts of the situation. In case not answered properly and on time could lead to surcharges of 2% monthly of total contrubution, potencial fines and/or store closings."
  • Books Records and financial information
  • Validates and verifies that all payroll and payroll taxes accounts are well supported and duly registered in books for Corporate payroll, Distribution Centers, Field, Stores and DataZone, as well as in compliance with the corresponding legal documentation. In charge of balance reconciliations for tax and payroll accounts. Collaborates with the SSC Finance Manager in providing all information required in order to evaluate and analyze existing payroll policies, procedures and business processes and supports him on the implementation of changes and/or quality control measures leading to best practice operation. Validates corresponding accounts monthly and periodical reconciliation for MX-NIF and USGAAP purposes. Supports on the elaboration of Anual Budgets and Forecasts.


  • Tax reforms MX

  • Verifies, studies and analizes new tax provisions and reforms impact in Group entities. As well, informs other departments about new reforms and helps them design or modify policies and procedures in order to comply with tax and legal legislations.
  • Customer Service and communication
  • First fronting and responsible of payroll customer service and facilitate positive relationships with users and ensures appropriately problem resolving to employee on payroll related issues. Maintains company duly communicated about payroll transactions reviewing at all time alignment with HR and corresponding functional areas and controllers. Looks for group opportunities and suggests procedures for processes improvement.
  • Department continuity and Team Development
  • Keeps in continue update, verifies, studies and analyzes new tax provisions and reforms impact in Group entities Ensures team development and training. Reviews all payroll processes and implement best practices and improvements ensuring department excellent and continuity. It is important to ensure that all payroll and payroll taxes are properly done, in order to ensure that employees have medical attention in case required.

Education & Experience

Level of Formal Education:
A Bachelor's degree (BA, BS) or equivalent. Master degree on Finance and/or Payroll special studies certification

Area of Study:
Finance and Accounting education. Payroll Studies Certification

Years of Experience:
More than seven years.

Type of Experience:
Payroll cycle processing. Mexico payroll Tax, Labor Legal and Social Security and Accounting knowledge. Tax requirements written notices attending knowledge.

Special Certifications or Technical Skills:
Payroll taxes certification / Master Degree

Other/Preferred:

English fully bilingual (High proficiency on writing, speaking, listening and reading equivalent to +550 points of Toefl Score).Master Degree from a recognized university.
