    Position Summary:


    The role involves performing and supporting mechanical design activities associated with developing design concepts and validating test solutions within the Engines and Power Systems Organization. The designer delivers complex engineering design solutions across all Honeywell sites, providing direct support and guidance to junior engineers.

    Areas of Responsibility:


    The candidate is accountable for design activities related to 3D modeling, detailing, development, and design substantiation utilizing analytical capabilities like stress, heat transfer, fluid dynamics, and energy release for test equipment of the Engines and Power Systems Organization under the Test Services Mechanical Design Team. This includes Vibration Fixtures, Lifting/Handling devices, Pneumatic Systems, Special Tools, Pipe Installations, Pressure vessels, among others.
    The position ensures design integrity of detailed components, system design integrity, integration of design elements at the assembly level, and test equipment substantiation and manufacturability.
    The designer is responsible for validating designs through Finite Element Analysis (FEA) using specialized software like ANSYS Workbench to assess design performance under various conditions and phenomena.

    This role involves collaborating with manufacturing, project engineering, quality, and customer support groups to conceptualize designs, develop 3D models, substantiate, and support the creation of detailed manufacturing drawings.
    The engineer must be capable of handling multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely and quality execution. Management skills are crucial as the designer might be part of the site's focal point group and must effectively communicate with peers and customers to understand project requirements.

    The role requires developing solutions to technical challenges by applying advanced physical science and engineering technologies, as well as assessing and developing equipment, tooling, gages, or processing methods necessary to test complex components and assemblies independently.

    Must have


    • BS in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace, Mechatronics, or Industrial.
    • Preferably Engineering master's degree.
    • Proficiency in CAD Tools, specifically in NX, CATIA V5, and basic knowledge of ProE. Basic understanding of AutoCAD.
    • At least 5 years of professional experience in the Aerospace industry.
    • 2-D Drawing Skills and proficiency in detailing with correct tolerances, GD&T, surface finishing, and manufacturability.
    • Strong English written and oral communication skills.

    • Knowledge and experience in ASME standards including Y14.100 Drawing Practice and welding standard D17.1/D17.1M.
    • Experience with AEP procedures during PDR, CDR, etc.
    • Proficiency in FEA tools, specifically Ansys Workbench, for stress, modal, thermal growth, CFD, and heat transfer analyses at component and assembly levels.
    • Schedule management skills to ensure timely task completion.
    • Understanding of ASME Y14.5M Geometric Tolerancing and Dimensioning (GD&T), with preference for certification or certification candidacy.
    • Experience in Design for Manufacturing (DFM).
    • Preference for DFSS or Green Belt certification.
    • Ability to work effectively in a team environment, familiar with fabrication processes like welding, machining, and grinding.
    • Provide support and guidance to junior engineers.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Project).
