Job Description Summary

:

As a materials laboratory engineer, you will perform a variety of functions to improve the quality of our deliverables by performs basic and advance equipments usage, and data analysis to the execution of different lab projects.


Essential Responsibilities

  • Perform all activities with the highest ethical principles and promotes a culture of personal and team safety (following EHS guidelines), including others who may be affected by the company's operational activities.
  • Execute hardware/sample reception process and fill out appropriate documentation for incoming material and keep it/out records.
  • Perform hardware/sample photodocumentation of the as received material.
  • Perform coarse and fine hardware/sample sectioning as applicable.
  • Perform metallographic sample preparation, characterization and testing safely following basic procedures and related workflows.

i. Help to maintain laboratory equipment spare parts, consumables, supplies and inventories up to date.

laboratory work environment.

  • Follow and give technical guidance from FA/Lab staff and assigned teams to support the execution of laboratory investigations.
  • Operates diverse laboratory equipment but are not limited to EDM, 3D Scanning (Blue Light), Digital/Optical Microscopy, Tomography, Micro-Vickers Hardness, and others as determined by the work scope of the project.
  • Work within the guidelines of applicable GE Policies and Procedures, Engineering Standards, Design Customer Operating Procedures, Specifications, Government and Commercial Standards, and special security requirements.
  • Support on the documentation of technical data generated to assist on laboratory projects.
  • Monitor and communicate tasks status and issues as pertaining to assigned projects.
  • Concurrently work on multiple projects by performing assigned tasks, monitoring progress, quality and ensuring schedule requirements are met.
  • Meet team quality procedures and templates.
  • Understand and communicate effectively with internal laboratory leaders and peers.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in materials, metallurgy, chemical, mechanical engineering or similar.
  • Experience in conducting material characterizations and their data analysis (e.g., failure analysis).
  • Effective written and oral communication skills in English and Spanish. e.g., must be able to maintain a normal daytoday fluid conversation on any topic with few mistakes (mistakes that will not affect getting the message through). Must have fluency and rhythm and sufficient selfconfidence in the language to be able to handle meetings and conversations.
  • Presentation Skills: Ability to communicate across functions
  • Strong Teamwork and eager to collaborate in an inclusive environment
  • Understanding of Project Management principles
  • Strong problemsolving skills with guidance
