YOU.**The overall purpose of this role is to ensure and lead that the tests required for the release of products and raw materials in the Microbiology Laboratory are executed in a timely manner during a workday, in such a way that it will support production processes using their specialization and experience for the determination of biocontamination in products, raw materials and controlled environments.


In this role, you will:


  • Execute and supervise that all the tests required in the Laboratory are conducted in a timely manner according to established procedures and the flow of tests necessary for the release of products is maintained.
  • Supervise the assigned Laboratory Technicians, acting as a guide in the resolution of problems, reviewing and determining that the Microbiological test reports present scientific conclusions to support the release of products and applicable raw materials and maintaining the minimum consumables required to perform; Ensure Laboratory tests on a daily basis and ensure that Laboratory inventories are always available to continue the operation.
  • Responsible for writing, leading and executing validations of equipment and methods applicable in the Microbiology Laboratory operation, and when required, designs and executes experimental tests to determine root causes of existing problems; Identify and report to your supervisor and department heads involved sources potential of microbial contamination to products, materials and areas of manufacture.
  • Design and maintain a certification system for Laboratory Technicians to ensure that tests are consistently reliable, using blind sample methods with a defined periodicity.
  • Update all the work instructions and formats that are applicable to Microbiology tests, analyzing the potential risks of a change to already predefined techniques; When applicable, it is responsible for creating required documentation for the improvement or updating of work methods; When necessary, renew all the Microbiology Laboratory logs.
  • Carry out the confirmation of possible Objectionable Microorganisms in the products, using advanced biochemical techniques for the detection of pathogenic microorganisms; Ensure that the validation of test methods, special processes or processes related to laboratory equipment comply with international standards and KC policies.
  • Maintain, under Good Laboratory Practices, all bacterial strains that are required in the Laboratory for the use of positive and negative controls; Coordinate activities for control and reduction of sources of contamination; implementer of improvements to tests and laboratory methods; Release reports / certificates of laboratory tests performed.
  • Ensure that all laboratory equipment has calibrations and maintenance in a timely manner; Determines work methods that ensure all the materials and equipment applicable to perform the Microbiological tests are properly sterilized.
  • Ensure compliance with the requirements of quality standards and regulations (ISO13485, CE-MARK, FDA / GMP), according to established policies and procedures.
  • Implement savings projects; Ensures that Laboratory metrics are published and updated; Follow the process of corrective actions from its beginning to its completion based on established procedures to ensure compliance.
  • Provide the necessary training to all the personnel involved, to maintain in force the training needs system of the Quality department; When alternative work methods are required, it is responsible for ensuring that Lab technicians are trained before their implementation.

  • ENGLISH: Intermediate Level
  • EXPERIENCE: 2+ years of experience in Test Laboratories, 1 year in projects related
