    BASIC FUNCTION

    As a SeniorBuyer in Kohler's Global Strategy Sourcing division, you would be responsiblefor a variety of sourcing related projects in new product development. Youwould also be responsible for reviewing project proposals and developing aproject implementation plan of action. You will partner with Production,Engineering, Purchasing, Materials, Manufacturing sites, Sales and Marketingand ID to ensure project scope and stakeholder expectations are in alignment. Awide degree of creativity and latitude is required.
    Reports to Sr. Manager – Faucets NorthAmerica POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES - Prepares and evaluatessupplier quotations and services to determine most competitive solution based upon a total cost of ownership

    Relies on experience and judgment to plan andaccomplish goals.

    Creates "Make vs. Buy" analysis and drivedecision execution toward product introduction.

    Works with legal team to create and executedocuments protecting Intellectual Property.

    Initiates timelines and adherence measurements toproject goals; building and driving teamwork across functional areas.

    Fosters support from manufacturing plantresources to ensure schedule dates and issues are understood and inaccordance with resource planning.

    Monitors and tracks project costs in comparisonto the specified budget and business case.

    Communicates project schedule date changes to customer,building trust in interactions.

    Provides update reports to management along withdetailed gap analysis and corrective action plans.

    Manage purchasing related risks in a professionalmanner.

    Promotes self-development and the developmentwithin teams through the use of all available resources (i.e. trainingprograms, seminars, sharing of best practices, and self-study).

    Interprets analysis, applies statistical toolsand calculates TCO on monetary elements.

    Develops and manages contingency plans, riskfactors, and interdependencies. Ability to create spend level strategyconsistent with business unit (near term focused).

    Comprehends business law and has ability to draftTerms & Conditions (T&Cs) to meet business needs. Executescommercial transactions independently. Accountable for customerresolutions.

    Identifies and drives out nonvalue add activities. Ability tonegotiate service and support level agreements that have a positive impactfor all parties involved.

    Understands BATNA (Best Alternative toNegotiated Agreement) and how to effectively utilize compromise to company'sadvantage. Ability to resolve agreement barriers and/or quickly determinefinancial trade-offs while in a negotiation

    Business/Technology

    - Understand legal Interpretation of contract T&Cs and proficient inworking with Domestic & International Law.

    Involved in the Acquisition and/or re-sale of IntellectualProperty. Understanding potentialdiffering needs between Internal & External customers. Consistently exceed customer expectations bydealing with internal complexities across multi or global organization in amanner invisible to customers.

    - Ability to construct and manage complex, sophisticated commercial arrangements;Experienced in negotiating/managing point-to-point purchase agreements. Ability to construct value stream (profitmargin) industry maps, utilize advanced financial techniques (commodityhedging), and build market comparable cost analysis. - Ability to create spend category strategy with the understanding ofinterdependences, risks, and impact of strategy by business unit. Able to develop & implement contingencyplanning processes. - Provides solution/alternatives to improvement ideas.

    Takes initiative to undertake improvementopportunities that are global in scope and complexity, setting strategies forprocess improvements that impact the work product of the department.

    Drives one company one processinitiatives. Skilled in implementingcontinuous improvement opportunities within the supply base.

    Interpersonal
    - Communicates departmental vision and goals, creating atmosphere of opencommunication. - Provides presentationopportunities for developing talent visibility with senior management. Issues undertaken are significant in scopeand complexity.

    Actively supports changeopportunities to maximize personal, departmental and/or companyperformance.

    Influences relationships,proficient in market research and capable of reacting to the speed of theindustry.

    Managerial
    Leads multi-location projects and actively participates and supportsprofessional development, for both associates and department as a whole. Develops strategic plans and goals whileunderstanding industry direction and influences that force change. Shares the vision both internally andexternally.

    EDUCATION ANDEXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
    Bachelor Degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations, Business orEngineering. Minimum four yearsprofessional experience and four years purchasing experience. Previous SAP experience desirable.

    Travel: Approximately 20%
