- Develop and implement strategic plans for the materials management function to ensure alignment with overall business objectives.
- Collaborate with other departments, such as procurement, production, and logistics, to optimize the supply chain.
- Oversee the management of inventory levels to ensure an adequate supply of materials while minimizing excess and obsolete inventory.
- Implement inventory control measures to enhance accuracy and reduce carrying costs.
- Utilize technology and systems to track and analyze inventory levels.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure a reliable and cost-effective supply of materials.
- Negotiate contracts, terms, and agreements with suppliers to optimize costs and ensure quality standards are met.
- Evaluate supplier performance and implement improvements as necessary.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement within the materials management function.
