The Role

We are seeking a Cloud Engineer to build, deploy, operate, sustain, and grow the software systems that build, scale, monitor, secure, manage, and automate PACCAR's cloud services.

The Cloud Engineering team within Digital drives the stability and sustainability of next-generation systems and discovers innovative ways to scale and operate them reliably.

In this role, you will work with Systems and Software Engineers to create proactive engineering mechanisms that will enable your team to manage the health of cloud services, distributed server fleets, and the software stacks across AWS, GCP and Azure.

You will deploy and monitor the systems and automation to ensure that tooling is operating optimally.

You will utilize trends and metrics to identify opportunities for improvements within existing frameworks, tools and processes to continuously improve systems.

About the Team

Responsibilities:

Maintain standards for Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery workflows for development teams
Ensure Digital Platform service level expectations are clearly defined and measurable through Service Level Objective's (SLO's) and Service Level Indicators (SLI's).
Ensure that Instances Deployed to Cloud Platforms meet PACCAR's patching, monitoring and DR/Backup Standards.
Work with System Engineers, Developers, Architects, and DevOps engineers to design and implement automated solutions with CI/CD Pipelines for infrastructure and software build, deployment, and configuration.
Automate using Docker, Terraform, Gitflow, Jenkins, or an equivalent
Maintain code and scripting Git version control repositories and related systems supporting initiatives around "infrastructure as code"
Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve problems with the build, deployment, and continuous integration process
Leverage scripting languages, such as Python and Terraform, to build automated solutions and integrations on an adhoc basis.
Ensure security is integrated into all architecture solutions to meet compliance standards.
Seek opportunities and implement solutions to improve site reliability (reducing Mean Time to Diagnosis, Mean Time to Resolution, System Selfhealing, etc.)
Provide technical guidance and training to junior team members

Required Experience & Skills

2+ years of noninternship professional cloud engineering or software development experience
1+ years of experience contributing to the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems.
Proficiency in one or more of Python, Perl, Ruby, Bash or Java.
Strong experience using AWS and/or GCP resource technologies to develop and deploy enterprise solutions

Preferred Experience

Experience managing scaled cloud systems with a focus on operational excellence
Experience working with highavailability, distributed systems and services in a hosting environment including hardware, OS, storage, network, and database solutions
Experience Monitoring distributed systems included use of tools such as SUMO Logic, Prometheus/Grafana and the ELK stack.
Experience in the development and rollout of technical operations processes and new services Experience automating software deployments and following a continuous delivery and deployment model
Experience with DNS, DHCP, SSH, HTTP, TCP/IP and other common network protocols Experience with system analysis and troubleshooting in largescale Linux environment Experience with database technology, both relational and NoSQL
Experience with RESTful API design and development, including API definition, lifecycle management, contract or consumer first development, and authentication with OIDC or SAML.
Working knowledge of agile development methods
Working knowledge of data structures/algorithms

Education (List required and/or preferred education)
Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Information Technology or related experience preferred
