Government Affairs Head:


What you will do

Let's do this.
Let's change the world. In this vital role you will be accountable for the development and implementation of Mexico's policy plan to deliver against long-term business strategy.

  • Responsible for critical relationships with government, advocacy groups and other key external partners.
  • Strategic leadership of external engagement plans along with Management Team and official spokespeople of the company in Mexico.
  • Lead Government Affairs strategy and develop Amgen Mexico longterm government affairs vision.
  • Collaborate with Access Director to ensure the government affairs strategy supports the access and reimbursement plans for Amgen products and ensure advocacy strategies are included in Access/Brand plans.
  • Collaborate with Corp Affairs lead to build Amgen's reputation in Mexico and strategy aligned with Country business goals and International Corporate Affairs goals.
  • Ensure the organization is aware of relevant policies under discussion including emerging policy issues that would present a threat or an opportunity to Amgen's short and long term's objectives.
  • Collect intelligence and communicate analysis to local team, regional team and key functional colleagues (e.g. medical, regulatory) as needed in a proactive and timely manner.
  • Get in touch with internal customers and in particular the regional team for support on local positioning, resources, and training needs.
  • Actively participate in Policy, Access, and Reimbursement meetings.
  • Work with and represent Amgen in appropriate trade and industry associations and other forums to drive Amgen's business and influences decision impacting the business and patient access to Amgen products.
  • Have a public speaking role on the national public policy together with the General Manager and Medical Director for Amgen (with authorization and coordination with Corporate Communication).
  • Work close with key team members such as Legal & Compliance heads to ensure our lobbying & advocacy strategies are aligned with our company values and integrity.

Basic Qualifications:


  • Doctorate degree and 2 years of government affairs/policy related experience within a Pharma Company, and/or experience in local government, and/or experience in Public Affairs Consultancy with Pharma clients, and/or experience in Local Trade Association OR
  • Master's degree and 6 years of government affairs/policy related experience within a Pharma Company, and/or experience in local government, and/or experience in Public Affairs Consultancy with Pharma clients, and/or experience in Local Trade Association OR
  • Bachelor's degree and 8 years of government affairs/policy related experience within a Pharma Company, and/or experience in local government, and/or experience in Public Affairs Consultancy with Pharma clients, and/or experience in Local Trade Association.
  • Proficiency in English, both in written and verbal communication.

Preferred Requirements:


  • Previous experience in government affairs team.
  • Able to work successfully with patient groups to build trust and support by identifying mutual interests and agendas.
  • Understands how to engage and mobilize patient advocacy groups to take appropriate action in support of specific issues, such as access, and to support Amgen and the biopharmaceutical industry overall.
  • Skilled at advocacy, influence, and persuasion: able to convince others to act on information or recommendations based on compelling logic or common best interests.
  • Possesses unquestionable integrity and a sense of confidence.
  • Experience in representing corporate interests at Local Trade Associations, driving key policy positions of responsibility, and building coalitions as needed.
