About this role:


As Payroll Manager you will be responsible for managing payroll processing and timekeeping to ensure employee understanding of and compliance with company policies and practices as well as manage the preparation and distribution of hourly and salaried payrolls for single or multiple locations to ensure employees receive timely and accurate payments.

You will also assist in the development of the operating and personnel budget(s) of the department(s) and participate in monitoring department spending to maintain adherence to budget plans; while analyzing, explaining and/or recommending variances to plans.


What You'll Do:


  • Oversees the withholding of federal, state, and local taxes, Social Security contributions, contribution to employee benefit programs, and other deductions to ensure proper government reporting and compliance.
  • Reviews additions and changes to the computerized payroll system such as changes in salary, benefits, or tax withholding to ensure records are accurate and current.
  • Oversees any irregular payments such as sales draws and bonus payments to ensure adherence to company budget guidelines.
  • Manages the compilation and filing of required reports for relevant government agencies, insurance carriers, other companies and individual employees to meet government and other reporting requirements.
  • Serves as liaison with other departments, units, or locations to resolve payroll issues and concerns in accordance with company guidelines.
  • Oversees the preparation and timely distribution of W2's, 1099s, etc. to ensure adherence to government guidelines.
  • Selects and hires employees. Trains and evaluates employees to enhance their performance, development, and work product. Addresses performance issues and makes recommendations for personnel actions. Motivates and rewards employees including providing salary increases, bonuses and promotions within allocated budgets and company guidelines.

Who you are

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, accounting or related field preferred
  • Nine or more years of accounting or payroll experience
  • Five or more years of leadership or supervisory experience
  • Experience working with payroll and tax laws
  • Experience working with generally accepted accounting principles and accounting software
  • Experience working with tax forms and processing
