Overview:
The

Portfolio Accounting Supervisor will be responsible of ensuring accurate and timely accounting for the Insurance portfolios, by preparing financial reporting, implementing controls and reconciliations aligned with GMF accounting policy. The Portfolio Accounting Supervisor requires proficient communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team with both local and international counterparts. This role is key for the execution of the Insurance accounting closure.

Responsibilities:

The Accounting Supervisor position requires a high grade of accuracy and attention to detail with the day-to-day activities. The position supports all aspects of operational and accounting activity related to Insurance Accounting reconciliations.

Additionally this role requires focus in providing a quick response to internal business customers and management in Mexico & International Operations.


It is important to emphasize the ability to independently formulate solutions, solve complex requirements and proactively address issues to generate quality and control improvements.

Must show an openness to collaborate and negotiate with counterparts to reach agreements that support the business.


Daily Activities

  • Execution of daily accounting of Insurance portfolio maintaining accurate balances w/o reconciling items >60 days
  • Execution and monitoring of daily payments.
  • Reconciliation of Insurance suspense items and bank collections.
  • Review daily accounting and ensure accurate information from Insurance portfolio.
  • Support audit Requirements for US GAAP, MX GAAP and Peru
  • Support SOX Requirements.
  • Follow internal controls and maintain updated process maps and BPMS procedures for the overall Portfolio Accounting Process Support escalated issues.

Monthly Activities

  • Responsible for Insurance portfolio month end activities.
  • Prepare metrics and variance reports for end of month closure.
  • Prepare and Review Accounting Reconciliations for key and nonkey accounts.
  • Prepare information for Banks and regulatory authorities (CNBV, BMV).
  • Support Finance Leadership preparing required data.

Other Activities

  • Approve payments to support FSS on demand.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
  • Master's Degree desirable.
  • At least 5 years' of experience in accounting.
  • Experience working for a SOFOM, financial industry or any Big Four Audit Firms is desirable.
  • Experience in leading accounting projects.
  • Knowledge of local accounting principles (NIF), USGAAP and Sarbanes Oxley (SOX).
  • Proficient accounting & operational experience.
- +2 years managing people is required.

  • Knowledge of portfolio administration (Retail, Leasing and Insurance) desirable.
  • Advance knowledge of deferrals (income/expense).
  • A/P and A/R reconciliations.
  • Proficient Analytic skills, ability to perform accounting variance analysis.
  • Advanced Excel skills, demonstrated ability to produce documents, spreadsheets, databases and presentations.
  • Excellent organizational skills, ability to create and maintain work relationships.
  • Proactive with efficient analytic and problem solving skill set.
  • Good oral, written and presentation skills; ability to communicate to individuals and groups.
  • Fluent English spoken & written (will be evaluated during the interview process).
