    Main Purpose of Job:
    Support the Press and Communications team in the delivery of Communications and Public Diplomacy campaigns, communications products and information management.

    The position will report directly to the Press and Communications Assistant and will be based in the British Embassy in Mexico City offices.

    Roles and responsibilities / what will the jobholder be expected to achieve?:

    Communications Activities

    • Regular update of media database.

    • Support in Daily News Report when needed.

    • Contributing to the media reports when needed.

    • Write summaries of team meetings.

    • Photo coverage of events when needed.

    • Supporting in events (press conferences, receptions, other) with:
    a. logistics
    b. branding set up
    c. welcome press
    d. media confirmations
    e. networking

    Campaigns

    • Mapping key soft-power opportunities and events.

    • Support with soft power activities when needed.

    • Collate the Embassy activities calendar, raising key events that will require support and be
    the liaison with the Mexico team for marketing campaigns.

    Branding Activities

    • Manage the inventory of branding materials.

    Social Media

    • Support with social media monitoring and reporting.

    • Producing basic audio-visual material for the different teams that make up the embassy and
    our social media channels (videos, photos, and infographics).

    The role will involve working with numerous different teams across the Press and Political Section and the Embassy.

    The successful candidate will need to work flexibly across areas.

    All employees in the Embassy network are expected, as part of their job, to contribute towards the corporate activity of the organisation.

    Essential qualifications, skills and experience
    • Proven English proficiency.

    • Excellent attention to detail.

    • Ability to summarise information.

    • Capacity for flexibility and willingness to work to meet deadlines.

    • Organisation skills.

    • Writing texts and copy skills.

    • Proofreading.

    • Social media-savvy (Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram).

    • Office basic skills.

    • Team working skills. Desirable qualifications, skills and experience
    • Video and graphics edition skills.

    • Adobe Suite: InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop or similar, and online resources like Canva.

    • Experience working in an international office environment.

    • Knowledge of Mexican domestic and international politics.

    • Interest in British culture.

    • Data analysis skills (for social media, digital marketing tools, and traditional media).     Working Patterns:

    25 hours per week

    Flexible working pattern in discussion with the Line Manager.

    Candidates must be able to live and work in Mexico in their own right.

    The successful candidate will be subject to a security clearance and professional reference checks.

    Employees who are not liable to pay local income tax on their Mission salary, eg some non-local national staff and some spouses or partners of UK diplomatic staff, will have their salaries abated by an equivalent amount.

    Appointable candidates who were unsuccessful may be placed on a 'reserve list'. If during the reserve period of 6-12 months the same or a largely similar role becomes available, that role may be offered to the second or subsequent candidate.
